Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in computer science, Data Science, or another related discipline is required; additional job-related experience may substitute year-for-year.
  • Five years of relevant experience in data management, data architecture, data integration, business intelligence, data warehouse solutions, web service development, information systems management, application architecture, or similar is required; additional job-related education may substitute year-for-year.
  • Supervisory experience is required.
  • Ability to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure.
  • Ability to manage enterprise-level application development and maintenance using the software development life cycle and methodologies such as Agile, DevOps, Waterfall, and Rapid Application Development.
  • Technical knowledge of integration platforms such as Azure Data Factory, Oracle Integration Cloud, SnapLogic, MuleSoft, and Dell Boomi; web applications; client/server software; PL/SQL, Java, C#, Groovy, Grails, JavaScript, jQuery, JSON, XML, Oracle software; extract, transform, and load architecture; and data warehousing technologies such as SAS Data Management Platform, Informatica, DataStage, and SSIS.
  • Skill in data management tools such as Informatica Master Data Management or equivalent.
  • Skill in Microsoft Power BI, SSRS, or similar reporting tools.
  • Skill in implementing data governance policies, procedures, and tools.
  • Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to present ideas in user-friendly, business-friendly, and technical language.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities, including the ability to anticipate, identify, and solve critical problems.
  • Ability to build effective relationships and work collegially and collaboratively with constituents at all levels in a diverse and distributed environment.
  • Ability to use a personal computer and other office equipment, including university software and email.
  • Regular and reliable attendance at the university during regularly scheduled days and work hours is required.
  • Ability to provide documents establishing identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of university-wide data warehouse, business intelligence, data integration, and web services.
  • Serve as a champion, advisor, and liaison to university partners and key stakeholders for the development and effective use of data warehouse, business intelligence, data integration, and web service offerings.
  • Serve as the primary contact for application vendors and service providers.
  • Coordinate business processes between the data warehouse and integrations area and other information technology services teams.
  • Facilitate incident management, problem management, knowledge management, service process design, and performance analysis.
  • Assist the Director of Enterprise Applications in fostering partnerships between IT Solutions and the broader university community.
  • Assist in the design, delivery, and assessment of enterprise application technology services supporting teaching, learning, research, and administrative functions.
  • Work with the CIO, Deputy CIO, and divisional leaders to drive cultural and technological transformation within IT Solutions.
  • Promote a collaborative, human-centered, innovative, accountable, transparent, and inclusive culture within IT Solutions.
  • Train, coach, and mentor supervised employees.
  • Plan and conduct performance appraisals for supervised employees.
  • Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards supporting integration functions.
  • Prepare the area budget and evaluate costs and performance of existing and new initiatives.
  • Assist in developing and implementing major project timelines.
  • Consult with university partners and stakeholders on the design and implementation of new and redesigned systems.
  • Manage the complete solution development life cycle, including requirements gathering, analysis, design, application development, testing, implementation, maintenance, user follow-up, support, and project management.
  • Plan, prioritize, and manage team activities while providing administrative and technical direction and ensuring efficient resource utilization and completion of work to standards.
  • Lead project work of varying complexity and priority and participate in or lead department-, division-, and university-level workgroups and meetings.
  • Analyze area performance, document resolutions, identify and remediate problem areas, and devise and deliver solutions to improve systems and services.
  • Identify and execute continuous improvements to processes and systems.
  • Track and analyze department or service trends and generate reports for internal and external audiences.
  • Build and maintain campus partnerships for enterprise application support and relationships with key constituents.
  • Create, lead, or participate in communities of practice, working groups, planning sessions, assessment sessions, and other collaborative efforts with application stakeholders.
  • Collaborate on or lead initiatives promoting digital dexterity, increasing awareness of IT Solutions services and emerging technology tools, and enhancing training and development opportunities.
  • Maintain awareness of current practices, future trends, and best practices in business intelligence, data warehousing, data integration, and web services.
  • Represent IT Solutions and participate in campus working groups, project teams, and university committees.
  • Travel as required and perform other assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of relevant data-related certifications such as CDMP and CBIP.
  • Knowledge of effective information technology or other shared governance models.
  • Skill in budgeting, financial planning, and business operations.
  • Skill in data modeling, including dimensional modeling, data vault, third normal form, data mining, and logical and physical data modeling concepts involving complex data and structures.
  • Ability to create and maintain a data dictionary.
  • Knowledge of enterprise resource planning applications such as Ellucian Colleague, Oracle E-Business Suite, and Oracle Cloud, as well as customer relationship management software applications.
  • Knowledge of Software-as-a-Service development.
  • Demonstrated skill in identifying and executing continuous improvements to processes and systems.
  • Ability to analyze, document, and modify business requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage an application development team.
  • Strong documentation skills.
  • Ability to conduct research into a wide range of computing issues.
  • Ability to stay organized, self-directed, and able to multitask across a portfolio of projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
