About the Job

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • At least 10 years of industry experience in electronics design, including deep experience with high-performance, battery-powered, size- and weight-constrained embedded products such as body cameras, action cameras, or mobile communications devices.
  • Demonstrated experience as the technical owner or electrical lead for a complex hardware product, with responsibility spanning electronics architecture, design, integration, verification, and issue closure from concept through production.
  • Proven success leading development of compact embedded systems that balance performance, power, battery life, thermal limits, mechanical packaging, reliability, manufacturability, and schedule.
  • Hands-on experience developing highly integrated embedded hardware systems, including SoC or application processor integration, memory, power and battery systems, audio, sensors, high-speed interfaces, and wireless subsystem integration.
  • Deep experience defining, integrating, and debugging high-speed interfaces, including LPDDR, UFS, USB 3.x, MIPI, Ethernet, SerDes, or similar interfaces.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating wireless subsystems and collaborating effectively with RF engineering on technologies such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cellular, and GNSS.
  • Expertise in power-system design and optimization for battery-powered products, including switch-mode and linear regulators, sequencing, measurement, and low-power design techniques.
  • Hands-on proficiency in board bring-up, lab characterization, troubleshooting, and root-cause debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, power analyzers, multimeters, power supplies, electronic loads, and custom test setups.
  • Proven track record providing technical leadership to internal engineers and external design partners, delivering high-quality electrical designs, maintaining alignment with architecture intent, and effectively closing technical issues.
  • Proficiency guiding PCB layout for dense embedded hardware, including layout direction, review, optimization, and release to fabrication. Experience with OrCAD/Cadence and Allegro tools is preferred.
  • Experience designing, testing, and debugging products for regulatory compliance such as FCC, CE, IEC, or similar standards.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and technical presentation skills.
  • Ability to personally engage in critical lab work, design validation, and technical issue resolution rather than solely directing others' work.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive hardware architecture, including SoC/application processor selection, system partitioning, interface definition, power architecture, and subsystem integration strategy.
  • Lead development and integration of complex embedded mixed-signal hardware spanning application processors/SoCs, memory, power delivery and battery systems, audio, sensors, wired interfaces, and wireless subsystem integration.
  • Personally lead critical hands-on electrical work, including schematic design, board bring-up, subsystem validation, root-cause debugging, characterization, and resolution of key technical issues.
  • Drive system-level electrical tradeoffs across performance, power, battery life, thermal behavior, mechanical packaging, EMI/EMC, reliability, manufacturability, and schedule; identify unstated requirements, integration gaps, and technical risks early.
  • Provide technical direction to internal engineers and third-party design partners, reviewing key design outputs for alignment with product requirements, architectural intent, engineering standards, and program milestones.
  • Work closely with PCB layout engineers to drive floorplanning, placement, stack-up direction, layout review, and physical implementation quality for dense, high-performance embedded designs.
  • Develop validation strategies and personally engage in lab testing, characterization, and debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, power analyzers, multimeters, electronic loads, and custom test fixtures.
  • Partner with firmware, RF, mechanical, systems, product, test, NPI, quality, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to drive robust integration and cross-functional execution.
  • Own electrical issue triage and resolution across prototype builds, validation, regulatory activities, and production ramp.
  • Lead electrical design reviews, establish engineering standards and best practices, and provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers through direct technical leadership and execution.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with OrCAD/Cadence and Allegro tools.
