Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, develop, implement, evaluate, and direct the Maintenance Department, its programs, and activities.
  • Ensure that maintenance schedules are followed and develop and maintain written maintenance policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate maintenance services and activities with Dietary, Nursing, Activities, and other related departments.
  • Assume administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability for directing the Maintenance Department.
  • Assist the Infection Control Coordinator in identifying, evaluating, and classifying maintenance functions involving potential exposure to blood or body fluids.
  • Inspect storage rooms, workrooms, utility closets, janitorial closets, and similar areas for upkeep and supply control.
  • Participate in facility surveys and inspections conducted by authorized government agencies.
  • Review maintenance deficiencies identified during surveys, develop plans of correction, and provide them to the Administrator.
  • Ensure that outside-vendor services are completed and supervised in accordance with contracts and work orders.
  • Meet regularly with maintenance personnel, solicit advice from department supervisors, identify and correct problem areas, and improve services.
  • Review the competence of maintenance personnel and make necessary adjustments or corrections.
  • Conduct daily rounds to verify that maintenance personnel perform required duties and that appropriate maintenance procedures are provided.
  • Maintain productive working relationships with department supervisors and coordinate maintenance services without interruption.
  • Supervise safety and fire-protection and prevention programs through weekly inspections of work areas and equipment.
  • Ensure that maintenance personnel follow safety regulations when using equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure that personnel use required safety equipment and supplies when lifting or moving heavy objects.
  • Ensure that supplies and equipment are maintained to provide a safe and comfortable environment.
  • Report equipment or facility damage promptly to the Administrator.
  • Obtain and maintain Material Safety Data Sheets for hazardous chemicals in the maintenance department.
  • Ensure that hazardous-chemical containers are properly labeled and stored.
  • Ensure that maintenance personnel are trained to use labels and Material Safety Data Sheets, recognize hazards, and follow protective measures.
  • Develop, maintain, and implement infection-control and universal-precautions policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that personnel performing tasks involving potential exposure to blood, body fluids, or hazardous chemicals complete appropriate in-service training before performing those tasks.
  • Ensure that maintenance policies and procedures specify appropriate safety precautions and equipment for tasks that could cause bodily injury.
  • Conduct periodic rounds to check equipment and verify that necessary equipment is available and operational.
  • Monitor maintenance procedures to ensure efficient use of supplies and avoid waste.
  • Assist with preparing and planning the Maintenance Department budget for equipment, supplies, and labor, and submit it to the Administrator.
  • Maintain written records of department expenditures and submit financial records and cost reports when requested or necessary.
  • Conduct weekly inspections of maintenance functions to maintain quality-control measures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident-care information, including protected health information.
  • Handle emergencies as they arise, including rescheduling maintenance work schedules.
  • Ensure that medical waste is disposed of according to facility procedures.

PACS Group has appointed Carey P. Hendrickson as chief financial officer, effective 27 April 2026. Hendrickson brings nearly four decades of financial leadership across healthcare, senior living and media sectors. Most recently, Hendrickson served as CFO of U.S. Physical Therapy, overseeing 779 outpatient clinics across 44 states. He previously held CFO roles at Capital Senior Living Corporation, managing 128 communities across 23 states, and Belo Corp. He succeeds Mark Hancock, PACS's co-founder and executive vice chairman, who will retire by 30 June 2026 whilst remaining on the board as vice chairman. PACS Group has announced that co-founder and chief financial officer Mark Hancock will retire on 30 June 2026. He will continue serving on the company's board of directors as vice chairman. Hancock co-founded PACS in 2013 with Jason Murray, starting with two post-acute care facilities in San Diego. Under his leadership, the company expanded to 323 facilities across 17 states, serving over 31,700 patients daily and generating $5.29 billion in revenue in 2025, representing 29.3% year-on-year growth. Dr Conway currently serves as CEO of Optum, UnitedHealth Group's health services division with revenues exceeding $200 billion.
