Requirements
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in appliance repair.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and confidently with customers throughout the service so they understand what is happening inside their home or business.
  • Ability to adjust communications to provide the best customer experience.
  • Ability to create detailed job notes in the customer’s account for future reference.
  • Ability to teach and learn by sharing thoughts and experiences with coworkers in meetings and one-to-one interactions.
  • Willingness to try new ideas and recommend process improvements to the manager to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized workspace in customers’ properties and the company vehicle.
  • Ability to work safely and help ensure coworkers work safely.
  • General knowledge of safe working practices and applicable federal and state Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, squat, stoop, use hands and fingers, handle controls, hear, and talk.
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms, climb ladders, work in hot and cold environments, and work in small crawl spaces.
  • Ability to regularly lift or move 50 pounds or more.
  • Close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Responsibilities
  • Complete in-home service calls for household appliances, including washing machines, dryers, refrigerators, stoves, microwaves, dishwashers, and garbage disposals.
  • Educate and assist customers in choosing the best options.
  • Maintain a clean, organized job site and a well-inventoried truck.
  • Work alongside customer experience coordinators and dispatchers to ensure the overall success of each service call.
  • Perform functionality testing, diagnose problems, repair appliances, and clean multiple types of laundry and kitchen appliances, including dishwashers, ranges, and ovens.
  • Visually inspect appliances and check for unusual noises, excessive vibration, fluid leaks, and loose parts to determine why they fail to operate properly.
  • Disassemble appliances to examine internal parts for wear or corrosion.
  • Tighten, align, clean, and lubricate parts as necessary.
  • Read schematics, follow wiring diagrams, and use ammeters, voltmeters, and wattmeters to check electrical systems for shorts and faulty connections.
  • Repair appliances with electronic parts and replace circuit boards or other electronic components.
  • Replace or repair defective belts, motors, heating elements, switches, gears, and other components.
  • Conserve, recover, and recycle chlorofluorocarbon and hydrochlorofluorocarbon refrigerants used in cooling systems as required by law.
  • Maintain the company vehicle and ensure it is well stocked.
  • Communicate frequently with dispatchers so they know the status of each job for scheduling purposes.
  • Work outdoors throughout the seasons and in changing work environments, including hot and cold conditions and small crawl spaces.
  • Communicate consistently with customers, vendors, coworkers, and others.
