New research shows 74 percent of physicians use AI for clinical information.

New research shows 74 percent of physicians use AI for clinical information. August 26, 2026, 08:00 GMT In 79 percent of campaigns measured, AI assistants referred physicians to brand sites Our goal is to give marketers something they can plan against, not just react to." - Amar Duggasani, CEO, HealthLink Dimensions ATLANTA, GA, UNITED STATES, August 26, 2026 / EINPresswire.com / - HealthLink Dimensions published its 2026 Physician Communications Report, produced in partnership with DeepIntent, and found that 74 percent of physicians use at least one AI tool for clinical information, while AI assistants referred physicians to pharmaceutical brand sites in 79 percent of campaigns measured - indicating that AI tools are the new frontier for healthcare and pharma marketers to drive awareness for drugs and treatments. For more than a decade, the report has documented what physicians say they want from healthcare marketers. This year, every stated preference is set beside a behavioral reading, giving marketers a view of not only what physicians report, but what they do. The findings are based on a survey of 896 qualified U.S. physicians across 25 questions, roughly 2.4 million email opens from HealthLink Dimensions' first-party engagement data, paired with programmatic advertising measurement data across verified clinicians. "This report has told marketers what physicians say for more than a decade. This year we tested those answers against measured behavior, and the gaps we found are where budgets are being spent least effectively," said Amar Duggasani, CEO of HealthLink Dimensions. "Our goal is to give marketers something they can plan against, not just react to." AI tools are playing a more prominent role in how physicians find information. But while nearly three-fourths of physicians employ AI tools for clinical information, only 27 percent say they rigorously verify what those tools return. ChatGPT accounts for 97 percent of the referrals measured. Meanwhile, AI-referred visits are up more than 80 percent year over year. The question for marketers is no longer whether AI reaches physicians, but how accurately AI represents their content when it does. "Healthcare and pharma marketing is at a point where physicians are asking AI about brands, but we need to take that insight and turn it into action," said Jennifer Loga, VP, Client Analytics of DeepIntent. "Healthcare marketing has the opportunity to leverage AI in a more meaningful way that turns awareness into real outcomes for patients." The shift is visible with other channels. While paid search still drives about 47 percent of brand-site arrivals, it is declining at 23 percent year over year. Social referrals are up 78 percent, digital media up 6 percent and email is down 8 percent across roughly 1.6 million healthcare professional site visits analyzed. For healthcare and pharma marketers, leveraging an omnichannel marketing strategy is the effective approach. More than 97 percent of healthcare professionals are reachable across display, CTV, audio, and native formats, and physicians reached on three or more channels showed nine times higher total prescription rates than those reached on a single channel. The widest divergence appears in content. The lighter, more practical formats are not what physicians say they want, but they are what physicians engage with. While 40 percent rank clinical trial summaries and scientific data as the single most valuable content type, that category ranked sixth of seven on actual opens at a 13.4 percent median. Interactive case tools led at 18.6 percent, followed by CME at 17.3 percent and podcasts and video at 16.4 percent. Timing shows a similar gap. Physicians describe themselves as receptive at any hour, with roughly 20 percent naming every daypart. Open data tells a different story: Tuesday through Thursday carry about 62 percent of the week's opens, with opens peaking mid-morning between 8 and 11 a.m. Reading behavior peaks at two key times. Roughly 14 percent of opens land within the first 15 minutes and about 39 percent within the first hour, followed by a distinct second wave 8 to 16 hours later. Frequency concerns also proved overstated with 76 percent of physicians saying they want information at least monthly and 32 percent want it weekly. DeepIntent measurement found that 54 percent of physicians were reached by more than 10 brands last year, yet click engagement remained flat across frequencies with no observable fatigue curve. Prescription rates, a stronger measure of media impact than clicks, increased as frequency increased. But the research highlights that pharmaceutical campaigns account for less than 0.01 percent of all ad impressions delivered to healthcare professionals. Methodology A survey of 896 qualified U.S. physicians across 25 questions, roughly 2.4 million email opens from HealthLink Dimensions' first-party engagement data, and 221 campaigns representing nearly 8.3 million emails sent between January and June 2026, each classified by content type. Destination, reach, and AI-referral findings come from DeepIntent's verified-clinician measurement of 3.4 million healthcare professionals. HealthLink Dimensions delivers data-driven solutions and real-time insights for healthcare provider marketing. Email is the core of the business: more than 25 million physician-directed emails deployed a year against a provider database sourced from over 500 trusted channels, with addresses validated monthly for deliverability. Triggered Email adds automated follow-up off real-time HCP behavior, while Script-Lift Analysis and Physician-Level Data (PLD) connect campaign exposure to prescribing change and to individual verified NPIs. By maintaining direct provider relationships through clinical news, newsletters, and job boards, HealthLink Dimensions supplies healthcare marketers with privacy-safe marketing data, technology, and research. DeepIntent was founded on a simple but powerful belief: healthcare advertising can and should drive better patient outcomes. By uniting media, identity, and real-world clinical data, its platform empowers the world's leading healthcare brands and agencies to deliver privacy-safe, omnichannel campaigns with measurable impact. Guided by innovation, integrity, and impact, DeepIntent combines data science, media expertise, and healthcare knowledge to connect patients and providers through meaningful, privacy-safe advertising. DeepIntent expands inventory marketplace with Vistar Media partnership, bringing premium digital out-of-home inventory to healthcare marketers.

DeepIntent expands inventory marketplace with Vistar Media partnership, bringing premium digital out-of-home inventory to healthcare marketers. Aug 18, 2026, 09:00 ET NEW YORK, Aug. 18, 2026 /PRNewswire/ - DeepIntent, the leading healthcare demand-side platform (DSP), today announced a partnership with Vistar Media, the leading provider of technology solutions for digital out-of-home (DOOH), bringing Vistar's premium inventory directly into the DeepIntent DSP. The partnership enables healthcare marketers to reach patients and providers through one of advertising's fastest-growing channels, while combining Vistar's premium inventory with DeepIntent's healthcare audiences, optimization, and measurement capabilities. As digital out-of-home continues to reshape how brands engage audiences in the physical world, healthcare marketers are increasingly looking to extend omnichannel campaigns beyond traditional digital environments. Through this partnership, advertisers can seamlessly activate Vistar's extensive DOOH inventory alongside their existing DeepIntent campaigns, reaching healthcare audiences across premium screens in high-impact environments including transit hubs, retail locations, office buildings, and airports. In addition, advertisers will now have additional access to point-of-care inventory, reaching patients and providers during the key moments surrounding important health conversations. Paired with the recent announcements of EHR partners, Lane4 and OptimizeRx, and the point-of-care app epocrates, DeepIntent continues to expand its marketplace offerings for healthcare marketers. "Healthcare marketers are looking for ways to connect with audiences across every meaningful moment of the consumer journey," said Nicole Alfonso, VP, Media Partnerships, DeepIntent. "By bringing Vistar's premium digital out-of-home inventory into the DeepIntent platform, we're making it easier for advertisers to activate high-impact omnichannel campaigns while leveraging the healthcare data, optimization, and measurement capabilities that drive better outcomes." Driven by rapid adoption of digital screens and programmatic buying, out-of-home advertising continues to reach new milestones. According to the Out of Home Advertising Association of America (OAAA), U.S. out-of-home advertising set a record $9.46 billion in revenue in 2025, fueled largely by continued growth in digital out-of-home advertising. "Programmatic digital out-of-home continues to play a larger role in omnichannel media strategies, and healthcare marketers are no exception," said Stephen Thomas, VP, DSP Partnerships, Vistar Media. "We're excited to partner with DeepIntent to make our premium inventory easily accessible within its healthcare marketing platform, helping advertisers extend their reach into high-impact environments while maintaining the precision and efficiency of programmatic activation." Designed specifically for healthcare advertisers, the new offering provides: * Premium DOOH Scale: Access to one of the world's largest digital out-of-home marketplaces across thousands of premium screens. * Streamlined Activation: Launch DOOH campaigns directly within the DeepIntent DSP alongside existing omnichannel media. * Healthcare Precision: Combine premium inventory with DeepIntent's privacy-safe patient and provider audiences and optimization capabilities. * Performance-Driven Measurement: Optimize campaigns using DeepIntent's healthcare-specific performance framework to drive meaningful business and health outcomes. * Point-of-Care Inventory: Access to point-of-care inventory through Vistar Media publisher partners to reach healthcare professionals and patients in environments where medical decisions and personal care are relevant. "Omnicom Media and Outdoor Media Group are committed to identifying innovative solutions that make every channel measurable against real business outcomes, not just impressions," said Faryn Brown, Vice President, Addressable, Omnicom Media. "We have a valuable strategic partnership with T-Ads that continues to evolve to meet client needs. DOOH historically has been underleveraged in healthcare due to targeting and measurement gaps. And integrating VISTAR's premium DOOH inventory into the DeepIntent platform will give healthcare marketers the ability to run this channel with the same rigor as the rest of their omnichannel plan and measure it against the KPIs that drive better patient outcomes." DeepIntent launches Helix AI agentic platform. Helix AI enables marketers to evaluate campaign performance through natural-language querying and optimise those campaigns in real-time. DeepIntent, the healthcare demand-side platform (DSP), has launched Helix AI, the first agentic AI platform purpose-built for healthcare marketers. Helix AI unlocks market insights buried within the industry's most trusted and comprehensive health datasets, enabling marketers to strategise and engage key audiences with unprecedented precision across DeepIntent's DSP as well as other channels, such as social platforms. These tasks, which previously took days or weeks and often required complex workflows, can now be completed in minutes or less using natural language. With life sciences companies under more pressure than ever to drive commercial success as rapidly and efficiently as possible, marketers need new tools that accelerate their ability to understand and reach key audiences with more confidence and speed. This insight and velocity become pivotal in determining the success of new product launches or accelerating growth for existing treatments. Helix AI transforms this process, giving marketers an agentic interface to explore advertising and healthcare data together in one platform, generating market and audience insights on demand and pushing audience activation faster and more successfully than ever before. Within Helix AI, marketers can analyse both patient and healthcare provider audiences simultaneously, providing an integrated and unified view of patient and provider journeys, as well as the market dynamics shaping treatment adoption. Additionally, they can use agentic tools and conversational language to build highly relevant audiences and activate those audiences across both DeepIntent's DSP and non-programmatic channels, such as social media platforms. Helix AI also enables marketers to evaluate campaign performance through natural-language querying and optimise those campaigns in real-time. "From my own experience working in healthcare, the speed at which information reaches patients and providers has a significant impact on improving patient outcomes and quality of life. Agentic AI presents us with the technology to finally democratize access to critical insights buried deep within varying types of health and media data," said Chris Paquette, Founder and CEO of DeepIntent. "Helix AI shrinks both the time-to-insight and time-to-action from weeks to minutes, representing a major advance in how healthcare marketers can use AI and data to optimise the commercial success of their therapeutic products." With Helix AI, healthcare marketers can use natural language to: * Explore HCP & DTC Audience Intelligence: Query the full prescriber universe and consumer populations using natural language to uncover audience size, geographic opportunities, speciality composition, and prescribing behaviour. * Analyse Market & Competitive Trends: Analyse prescriber overlap, competitive market dynamics, and longitudinal prescribing trends to identify growth opportunities and support launch planning. * Integrate HCP & DTC Insights: Explore HCP and consumer populations together in a single conversation, connecting insights across the healthcare ecosystem. * Build & Activate Audiences: Create HealthFirst HCP and DTC audiences using natural language and activate them across DeepIntent's DSP and social platforms. * Optimise Media Performance: Access cross-channel forecasts, reach estimates, and AI-powered recommendations to inform campaign strategy and optimise performance. * Evaluate Campaign Outcomes: Query campaign performance in-flight using natural language and surface media and healthcare-specific KPIs, including Audience Quality (AQ), verified HCP reach, doctor visitation, and new patient starts. DeepIntent clients will have full access to Helix AI starting today. Agencies will be able to customise Helix AI with their own proprietary solutions and assets such as first-party analytics, data and media. In beta testing, agencies have been at the forefront of Helix AI adoption, using it as a game-changing resource for planning, with a 50% improvement in planning cycle time. "DeepIntent has long been a trusted partner in helping us unlock the full potential of health data," said Sharona Sankar-King, Chief Data and Product Officer of Havas Media Network North America. "Helix AI represents a meaningful leap forward in how quickly we can understand market dynamics, identify opportunities, and bring stronger recommendations to clients. The speed at which we can now surface actionable insights has fundamentally changed how we approach strategy and new business." "Helix AI provides a strategic edge by putting advanced, purpose-built data capabilities directly into the hands of our strategists," said Liz Mansell, SVP, Media Strategy, Fingerpaint Marketing. "Analysis that once took days, and often wasn't feasible at this depth, now takes minutes. We're operating at a level of intelligence that sets a new standard for what nimble agencies committed to pioneering AI innovation can deliver." Built on the Foundation of DeepIntent Helix Helix AI follows the launch of DeepIntent Helix, the purpose-built healthcare marketing cloud announced in March 2026. Built on DeepIntent's decade-long investment in healthcare data infrastructure, Helix provides marketers and their partners with access to granular insights across nearly 4 million healthcare providers and 250+ million patient lives. Designed for the realities of regulated health data, DeepIntent Helix delivers seamless, HIPAA-compliant access to the tools, technology, and AI-ready data needed to build and activate differentiated healthcare marketing solutions. That foundation is what makes Helix AI possible. While AI tools are becoming increasingly accessible, their value depends on the quality, organisation, and accessibility of the data behind them. Helix AI brings a conversational intelligence layer to DeepIntent's healthcare marketing cloud, making it easier for marketers to explore, analyse, and act on trusted health and media data through the AI tools and workflows they already use. Together, Helix and Helix AI help healthcare marketers move from data to intelligence to activation, all within an infrastructure purpose-built for the complexity, compliance, and precision healthcare marketing demands.
