About the Job

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or an appropriate STEM field is required.
  • Relevant experience in a temporary student employment environment, such as an internship, co-op, or extracurricular team activity, or as an early-career professional in a relevant technical discipline is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools is preferred.
  • The position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate electronic tools problems, understand causal mechanisms, recommend appropriate action, own problem resolution, and document results with guidance from more experienced team members.
  • Apply and support improvements to electronic tools development processes and tools, including the Electronic Tools Product Line common workflow, seven-step problem solving, application product development requirements, design, development testing and support, platform-specific compilers and toolsets for Windows, Linux, Android and iOS, software lifecycle tools such as Integrity, requirements management tools such as Integrity and DOORS, and configuration and change management.
  • Obtain input from product and software development teams, negotiate with them, and deliver verified software features, components, builds and support to product teams and end users.
  • Make decisions in software requirements, design and testing that affect local component and feature design.
  • Own problem resolution for moderately complex components, products, systems, subsystems or services, with technical complexity and ambiguity increasing as experience is gained.
  • Execute established work processes and systems independently while developing technology or product knowledge, and contribute to system and process improvement.
  • Coordinate and direct work among technicians and temporary student employees when needed.
  • Contribute to team goals and develop proficiency in competencies critical to success in the role.
  • Translate stakeholder needs into virtual designs and communicate design capabilities through approved cross-functional design reviews.
  • Specify software features that send and receive information on proprietary and public datalinks, specify datalink architectures for products, and configure datalink features.
  • Construct and verify customer, service and engineering tools that meet stakeholder needs and support development, use and service of electronic products.
  • Integrate market and key customer needs into product platform development plans and verify platform capability across approved architectural variants.
  • Solve product problems by determining assignable causes, implementing data-based solutions, and identifying systemic root causes and preventive actions.
  • Translate stakeholder needs into verifiable system requirements, establish acceptance criteria, track requirements through the system lifecycle, assess change impacts on scope, schedule and resources, and maintain links to related artifacts.
  • Define system boundaries, context, interfaces, lifecycle, scope and deliverables; analyze system interactions using appropriate methods, models and integrated outcomes to predict behavior and devise modifications.
  • Analyze technical data using descriptive statistics, probability distributions, graphical analysis and statistical inference; model relationships using analysis of variance, regression and design of experiments to support data-based decisions.
  • Identify product interfaces, functions, requirements, interactions, control and noise factors, and prioritized failure modes and causes to improve product reliability.
  • Use or interpret computational tools and methods to predict product function relative to system, subsystem and component requirements and inform design decisions.
  • Develop product system validation plans, identify failure modes, manage risk and priorities, negotiate requirements against capability, evaluate analytical, simulation and physical test results, assess legacy and proposed solution capabilities, and document recommendations.
  • Document technical knowledge and communicate it to stakeholders to improve productivity and transfer knowledge to people not involved in the original work.
  • Plan, schedule, coordinate and execute product development activities against requirements and technical profiles; monitor and communicate across functions, meet resource and quality expectations, mitigate project risks, and understand product lifecycle processes and stakeholders.

Desired Qualifications

  • A relevant Master's degree may be required for select roles.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Relevant experience in a temporary student employment environment, such as an internship, co-op, or extracurricular team activity, or as an early-career professional in a relevant technical discipline.
