Requirements
  • A graduate degree in a relevant field, such as educational leadership, leadership studies, educational studies, organizational behaviour, management, social movements, or group dynamics. In exceptional circumstances, applicants without a master's degree but with significant research or professional experience related to the course content may be considered.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of a wide range of diverse leadership theories and approaches.
  • Knowledge of theories and philosophies about adult learning and group dynamics.
  • Ability to analyze and apply organizational factors, including culture, structure, change, and development, to leadership practice and group behaviour.
  • Knowledge of effective interpersonal communication techniques, including active listening, feedback, non-verbal communication, conflict resolution, and negotiation strategies.
  • Practical experience working with diverse groups, including in intercultural or Indigenous contexts, and integrating diversity, equity, and inclusion principles into leadership practices.
  • Experience facilitating group discussions and resolving interpersonal conflicts within teams.
  • At least five years of experience in leadership roles within non-school educational environments, such as non-profits, government agencies, or private sector organizations.
  • Demonstrated success teaching similar or related courses to adult learners in traditional or non-traditional educational settings, or equivalent relevant teaching or professional experience.
  • A proven record of implementing equity, diversity, and inclusion-centered pedagogical strategies and responsiveness to student needs and interests.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems and other online tools to facilitate quality teaching and learning experiences.
  • Availability to attend course coordination and planning meetings before the course start date.
  • Authorization to work in Canada and willingness to work in Quebec at the campus where the position is based.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English.
Responsibilities
  • Teach EDEC 221-003/004, Leadership and Group Skills, during the Winter 2027 term.
  • Cover management, effective team leadership, group dynamics, and communications skills relevant to leaders.
  • Facilitate discussion of mainstream, intercultural, Indigenous, international, and institutional practices and leadership skills.
  • Attend course coordination and planning meetings before the course start date.

Club M&A and McGill's Dobson Centre launch acquisition programme as $218B in Canadian businesses set for ownership transition

Club M&A Canada and McGill's Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship have opened registration for their first Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition programme. The intensive four-day course, running 27–30 October in Montreal, targets professionals and aspiring entrepreneurs interested in acquiring existing small or medium-sized businesses. The programme addresses a significant succession challenge in Canada. According to the Business Development Bank of Canada, nearly one in five Canadian businesses will undergo ownership transition within five years, representing over $300 billion in business revenue. Marc Deegan, founder of R33 Ventures, will serve as programme director. The curriculum covers developing investment theses, target evaluation, financial and legal considerations, acquisition financing, and post-acquisition transition. Instructors include transaction professionals, lawyers, tax specialists, investors, and entrepreneurs with acquisition experience. Admission is by application, with no prior M&A experience required.
