  • The candidate must be licensed in a state, territory, or commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
  • The candidate must be a graduate of an American Council on Pharmaceutical Education accredited school or university.
  • The candidate must be licensed for controlled substances, with qualifications to practice in any states.
  • The candidate must demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills with co-workers and staff.
  • The candidate must maintain basic typing skills, personal computer skills, and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • The candidate must read, understand, speak, and write English fluently under the authority of U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d).
  • The candidate must be able to pass VetPro certification, a credentialing system required of Veterans Health Administration licensed, registered, and certified health care providers.
  • The candidate must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time, 8–10 hours, and lift totes weighing up to 30 pounds repetitively.
  • The candidate must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above the shoulders during the work shift.
  • The candidate must lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist.
  • The candidate must lift up to 20 pounds.
  • The candidate must carry up to 40 pounds a reasonable distance.
  • The candidate must push or pull with 30 pounds of force.
Responsibilities
  • Provide pharmaceutical verification of prescription orders for legend, over-the-counter, medical-surgical, and controlled substances for patients requiring care.
  • Assess drug orders and cross-match them with medication presented at checking stations.
  • Pre-verify medications loaded into highly specialized mechanical apparatuses to dispense medications into prescription bottles.
  • Complete verification and filling of controlled-substance orders, including Schedules III, IV, and V.
  • Perform quality assurance functions and supervise pharmacy technicians.
  • Follow Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy policies regarding documentation and reports to meet Veterans Affairs and The Joint Commission policies.
  • Note unusual doses, wrong drugs, wrong strengths, or drug mix-ups, and report the information in accordance with local Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy policies.
  • Provide full checking, labeling, and quality assurance in accordance with written Veterans Health Administration handbooks, written Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy policies, and training provided by the Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy.
  • Compound and dispense medications within corporate and regulatory guidelines for controlled substances.
