This position is part of the Space Systems Development (SSD) business unit. SSD develops next-generation concepts and systems to advance our future of living and working in space sustainably.

SSD Formulation team is a multidisciplinary team covering power systems, simulation and environments, thermal and fluids management, guidance, navigation, and control (GNC), autonomy, command and control, data handling and instrumentation, electrical integration and avionics, propulsion, and Artificial Intelligence. Deploying this team to serve the various projects, studies, and programs in a rapid formulation design environment will be a key responsibility while also contributing technically as an individual contributor sharing your expertise. Our group in Formulation is employing a fast-paced agile process to rapidly address early formulation work through a series of three-week sprints. This position will help lead assignments in this dynamic environment as well as be an active participant. To be successful you must embrace the right culture of bias for action while quickly delivering results. The decisions made early on will set Blue Origin up for long-term success. It also requires comfort with ambiguity and an ability to find a path forward.
Minimum Qualifications:
- B.S. or higher in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related technical subject areas.
- Experience in developing GN&C requirements, perform analyses, and trades to validate requirements for spacecraft and space system applications.
- Experience in definition, development, and execution of simulations and tools required for verification of GN&C functionalities.
- Experience in collaboratively working with other spacecraft subsystem engineers.
- Experience in performing data analysis using Monte-Carlo techniques and reduction and present technical information in a clear and compelling visual format
- Experience supporting concept studies, architecture development, definition of GN&C mode states and transitions, and concept of operations.
- Experience in the design, development, implementation, and testing of GN&C Flight Software in a Model-Based Development environment.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications:
- M.Sc. or PhD in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related technical subject areas.
- +2 years of experience with GN&C related tasks for spacecraft/space system applications
- First hand experience in integration of sensors and algorithms into the hardware.
- Experience with collaboration tools such as Confluence and JIRA
- Experience with design tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, and Simscape.
- Experience with development languages and tools such as Python, C/C++, and Git
- Mechatronics experience with robotics and associated GN&C techniques (inverse kinematics, feedforward control, path planning, etc.)
- Experience with Machine Learning Algorithms and familiarity with machine learning frameworks
Compensation Range for:
CA applicants is $109,980.00-$153,972.00;WA applicants is $109,980.00-$153,972.00
