Requirements
  • Experience building production-grade software; internships are acceptable, or experience in a quantitative role.
  • Ability to write strong software and build systems that process large, messy datasets at scale.
  • Strong intuition for systems, abstraction, and data structures.
  • Ability to turn ambiguous business objectives into reliably evaluable tasks and signals.
  • Ability to diagnose whether model limitations originate in the model, context, tools, harness, or training.
  • Ability to move between research questions and production implementation.
  • Care about reproducibility, observability, and understanding model behavior.
Responsibilities
  • Forward deploy with customers to understand their tasks and data.
  • Develop the environment factory that converts recorded enterprise data and task definitions into runnable environments.
  • Design graders that turn ambiguous business objectives into verifiable rewards.
  • Develop methods for mining useful tasks, trajectories, and evaluation cases from historical workflows.
  • Experiment with learning objectives and task design.
  • Create evaluation sets that are representative, reproducible, and resistant to overfitting.
  • Find combinations of models, tools, context, and policies that maximize performance while reducing inference cost.
  • Build replay and observability systems that make agent behavior explainable and measurable.
  • Own production systems and deploy implementations into real enterprise workflows.

Ambral provides an AI-powered account management platform for B2B companies to identify upsell opportunities and detect churn risk by treating customer relationships as a telemetry system. It ingests data from multiple sources, builds a live model of each customer, and surfaces actionable guidance to account managers on who needs attention and what actions to take. This approach goes beyond dashboards by delivering prescriptive next steps across scattered systems to help maintain customer intimacy at scale. The goal is to help B2B teams grow revenue and reduce churn by turning complex customer data into clear, actionable guidance.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • YC says Ambral drove hundreds of millions in attributable expansion revenue by 2026.
  • Public ShipBob deployment in June 2026 validates real-world use across merchant accounts.
  • GetLatka estimated $220,000 ARR in September 2025, showing early commercial traction.

What critics are saying

  • Gainsight’s 2026 agentic CS suite directly overlaps Ambral’s core workflow and messaging.
  • Ambral reported only three staff in June 2026, limiting enterprise delivery and sales capacity.
  • If ShipBob or other logos underperform, Ambral loses proof and YC-fueled momentum.

What makes Ambral unique

  • YC S25 Ambral Cortex models each account continuously across CRM, support, email, and calls.
  • Sam Brickman and ex-SpaceX engineer Jack Stettner combine product, AI, and telemetry expertise.
  • Ambral targets mid-market accounts inside large enterprises, a neglected segment for high-touch CS.
