Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved school of Nuclear Medicine Technology with National Certification from NMTCB or ARRT
  • ARRT or NMTCB certification in Nuclear Medicine required
  • Current California Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist
  • Must successfully complete and maintain Basic Life Support certification
  • Minimum of one year experience in an acute care setting
Responsibilities
  • Attends continuing education as required to maintain State license. Attends in-service classes as assigned.
  • Complies with all departmental and hospital policies and procedures. Documents unusual situations.
  • Demonstrates requested anatomy through selection and administration of isotopes, proper positioning and effective use of equipment.
  • Documents unusual conditions and/or limitations, records time examination completed, and technologist identification.
  • Effectively uses the Information Systems programs.
  • Lifts and transfers patients.
  • Maintains compliance with State and Federal regulations relating to the use of radioactive materials.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient care and medical record information.
  • Maintains nuclear medicine logs as needed.
  • Monitors supply usage, orders replacements as needed.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
  • Performs safety inspection of equipment prior to initial use. Reports unsafe acts or conditions to department management. Complies with all safety and infection control policies.
  • Possess the skills and knowledge needed to access the condition of the pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patient(s). Provides educational information to family members as required.
  • Responsible for understanding and participating in the organization-wide Quality Improvement Program through orientation, education, departmental and interdepartmental quality control, quality improvement, and quality planning activities.
  • Reviews Nuclear Medicine requisition, verifies examination, obtains patient history and checks for special instructions. Greets patients, verifies their identity, and explains procedure utilizing Aidet for Patient Satisfaction.
