About the company

Grab operates a multi-service platform in Southeast Asia, including ride-hailing, food delivery, and logistics. GrabExpress is its on-demand parcel delivery that lets customers and businesses send documents and packages via the Grab app, with up to 10 concurrent deliveries, real-time tracking, and islandwide coverage (with some restricted areas) from 9am to 6pm (often extending to 10pm). Revenue comes from delivery fees that depend on distance, time, and item type, and the service relies on a large network of delivery partners. Unlike specialists that focus on a single niche, GrabExpress sits within Grab’s all-in-one app to offer convenient, fast, and secure parcel delivery for individuals and businesses in the region.

Taiwan blocks Grab's $600M Foodpanda deal over Uber's 13.1% stake

Taiwan's Fair Trade Commission (FTC) on Wednesday blocked Grab Holdings' $600 million purchase of Delivery Hero's Foodpanda business in Taiwan. It cited the Singapore-based super app's equity and board ties to Uber, which runs rival Uber Eats on the island. Uber holds a 13.1% stake in Grab. FTC commissioner Shin Chih-chung said the ties and past cooperation "would reduce Grab's incentive and ability to compete with Uber Eats in Taiwan." Uber Eats and Foodpanda are Taiwan's two dominant food delivery platforms. Uber chief executive officer Dara Khosrowshahi left Grab's board in July to smooth the deal. Grab said it was disappointed. The ruling ends its first attempt to expand outside Southeast Asia. In 2024, regulators also blocked Uber's bid to buy Foodpanda's Taiwan operations.

The purchase is expected to help Grab attract new customers whilst diversifying its revenue streams in the region.

Grab, GXS Bank launch EV financing and charging tools for Singapore drivers

Grab and GXS Bank have launched tools to support electric vehicle adoption among Singapore drivers. Grab will roll out an EV Charging Network feature by year-end, allowing drivers to locate chargers, check availability, and pay through the Grab Driver app after a September trial. GXS Bank introduced GXS AutoLoan, which uses data from Grab's ecosystem to assess driver creditworthiness. The loan offers up to 100% financing with repayment terms extending to 10 years for new electric or hybrid vehicles. Grab also launched a car marketplace featuring new vehicles from dealers and pre-owned vehicles from its GrabRentals fleet. These initiatives complement Grab's existing EV discount programme and align with Singapore's green transport objectives.
