Requirements
  • A current and valid Texas Electrical Apprentice Certification is required, and the certification number must be included when applying.
  • Electrical skills including plan reading, layout, conduit bending, wire pulling, and the ability to follow directions are required.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools is required.
  • Reliable transportation and personal hand tools are required.
  • The applicant must be able to obtain an airport badge for access purposes.
  • The applicant must be willing to work night shifts and/or overtime.
Responsibilities
  • Perform electrical work under the guidance of a journeyman electrician, including efficient installation, training, and quality control.
  • Measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit using measuring instruments and hand tools.
  • Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment and keep parts and supplies in order.
  • Perform semi-skilled and unskilled labor related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Disassemble defective electrical equipment, replace defective or worn parts, and reassemble equipment using hand tools.
  • Thread conduit ends, connect couplings, and fabricate and secure conduit support brackets using hand tools.
  • Examine electrical units for loose connections and broken insulation and tighten connections using hand tools.
  • Drill holes and pull or push wiring through openings using hand and power tools.
  • Clean work areas and wash parts.
  • Dig trenches or holes for conduit or support installation.
  • Strip insulation from wire ends and attach wires to terminals for subsequent soldering.
  • Trace short circuits in wiring using a test meter.
  • Install copper-clad ground rods using a manual post driver.
  • Break up concrete using an air hammer to facilitate equipment installation, construction, or repair.
  • Erect electrical system components and barricades and rig scaffolds, hoists, and shoring.
  • Transport tools, materials, equipment, and supplies to work sites by hand, hand trucks, or heavy motorized trucks.
  • Construct controllers and panels using power drills, drill presses, taps, saws, and punches.
  • Raise, lower, or position equipment, tools, and materials using a hoist, hand line, or block and tackle.
  • Requisition materials using warehouse requisition or release forms.

  • Commercial or multifamily project experience is preferred.
