About the job

Requirements
  • At least 5 years of experience designing production backend platforms and distributed systems.
  • Deep expertise in database schema design, row-level security, and event-sourcing databases.
  • Practical experience with application-level security, encryption models, key management, and authorization patterns.
  • An adversarial mindset for identifying race conditions, logic flaws, and vulnerabilities.
  • Hands-on experience with policy-as-code tools such as Cerbos, Open Policy Agent, Cedar, or similar.
  • Broad ownership across the security stack and understanding of securing mission-critical enterprise software at large scale.
Responsibilities
  • Design and build the System Integrity Layer and foundational platform primitives that isolate and attribute agent actions, trace executions, verify state transitions, and enforce security constraints on software releases.
  • Design the core execution model governing how autonomous agents run, interact, and modify system state.
  • Conduct continuous code-level threat modeling across distributed networks to identify structural vectors, memory leakage, prompt manipulation, and authorization bypasses before staging.
  • Build append-only, tamper-resistant event systems that make every action reconstructable without relying on external logging frameworks or reactive audit tooling.
  • Engineer strict execution and data isolation layers between agents, users, and workflows in a multi-tenant infrastructure.
  • Run internal penetration testing, adversarial chaos testing, and targeted red-team exercises against infrastructure to expose flaws in isolation barriers and cryptographic verification boundaries.
  • Ensure automated agentic accounting processes are attributable, deterministic where required, verifiable in hindsight, and constrained by explicit system rules.
  • Architect and refine the internal software delivery pipeline to ensure integrity from code commit through production deployment.
  • Build deterministic verification mechanisms into the CI/CD pipeline so third-party dependencies, agent libraries, and compiled services are cryptographically signed, scanned, and secure by default.
  • Translate regulatory and audit requirements into low-level system constraints, eliminating reactive operational processes and manual review workflows.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in regulated industries such as fintech, banking, or insurance.
  • Knowledge of cryptographic primitives.
  • Experience with event streaming technologies such as Kafka or Redpanda.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes and cloud-native architecture.
  • Exposure to LLM or agentic system security, including prompt-injection defense, guardrails, or agent threat modeling.

About the company

Causa Prima builds a shared agent-to-agent network for B2B payments, connecting buyers and suppliers so AI agents automatically handle invoices, disputes, reconciliation and negotiation of payment terms. Its product uses autonomous AI agents on both sides of a transaction to resolve discrepancies in seconds, reconcile data, and optimize early-payment discounts across the AP/AR workflow. Unlike traditional finance tools that operate on a single party’s data, Causa Prima creates a network where agents communicate and settle issues in real time, backed by a strong founding team and a growing ecosystem of users and investors. The company’s goal is to scale its engineering and product teams in Munich and Madrid to expand the network, improve automation, and enable faster, more cost-efficient settlements for B2B buyers and suppliers.

Causa Prima raises $20 million to tackle billing disputes with AI agents.

Causa Prima raises $20 million to tackle billing disputes with AI agents. 13 hours ago Causa Prima, the agent-to-agent platform for enterprise finance, led by Maex Ament, Henrik Gebbing, and Philip Stanislaus, has raised a $20 million seed round that closed in September to expand its agent-to-agent platform, led by Base10 Partners, with participation from QED Investors, FJ Labs, and existing investors Creandum, Kfund, and Borusan Ventures. The company previously raised $10 million in a pre-seed round, bringing its total funding to $30 million. "The status quo today is that a lot of things are still somewhat manual," Ament told Fortune. "What we need is a network of agents, and... the area that felt natural to us was... accounts payable of one company and accounts receivable of another." "Every dollar going into [accounts payable and accounts receivable] automation today assumes the bottleneck sits inside one company. Causa Prima is building for the handoff between companies," Base10 general partner Rexhi Dollaku told Fortune in a written statement. Causa Prima employs 25 people across Madrid and Munich and plans to open a New York office to expand into the U.S. Its AI agents target the $98 trillion global B2B payments market by accelerating invoice approvals and negotiating early payments between buyers and suppliers. The company earns a fee on each successfully negotiated early payment. Friends to founders. Causa Prima's founders bring experience across enterprise software, fintech, blockchain, and consulting. Ament previously founded Taulia, a supply-chain finance company, and Centrifuge, a decentralized finance platform, while Gebbing co-founded Finoa after working at McKinsey. The two met in Madrid nearly a decade ago while pitching earlier startups. Their friendship became a business partnership last year, alongside CTO Stanislaus, formerly an engineering lead at Centrifuge. The trio founded Causa Prima after identifying how human-dependent workflows were slowing enterprise AI agents, with a focus on accelerating business payments.

Causa Prima raises $20M seed round to expand ai-powered finance platform.

Causa Prima raises $20M seed round to expand ai-powered finance platform. Led by Base10 Partners, the funding brings Causa Prima's total capital raised to $30 million as it targets US expansion and automates B2B invoice approvals, disputes and payments. Prefer on Google Causa Prima, a startup developing an autonomous finance platform for businesses, has raised $20 million in a seed funding round led by Base10 Partners. The investment brings the company's total funding to $30 million, following a $10 million pre-seed round completed just three months earlier. Open Biz Account The latest round also included participation from QED Investors and FJ Labs, alongside existing investors Creandum, Kfund and Borusan Ventures. Founded by chief executive officer Maex Ament, Henrik Gebbing and Philip Stanislaus, Causa Prima is building an AI-powered platform designed to automate financial processes between businesses, including invoice approvals, dispute resolution and payments. AI agents target manual B2B finance processes. Despite the adoption of digital financial software, many transactions between businesses still depend on manual communications, repeated follow-ups and negotiations between finance teams. Causa Prima is targeting these processes with autonomous AI agents that can manage interactions between companies. The platform is designed to handle communications concerning disputed invoices, payment terms and requests for early payment, reducing the need for finance professionals to coordinate each interaction themselves. The company is addressing a persistent challenge in business-to-business commerce: late payments. Research by Atradius has highlighted the scale of overdue B2B invoices in the United States, illustrating the pressure that delayed payments can place on suppliers and their cash flow. By automating routine interactions, Causa Prima aims to help companies resolve payment issues more efficiently and improve visibility into outstanding receivables and expected cash inflows. Platform aims to improve working capital management. Beyond invoice processing, Causa Prima's technology is designed to help businesses identify opportunities to optimise working capital. One example is early-payment discounting. A supplier may agree to accept a lower payment in exchange for receiving funds sooner, while the buyer can use available cash to secure more favourable terms. Discover more Track Investments Open Biz Account Managing such arrangements across thousands of invoices can be difficult when negotiations rely on individual emails and manual approvals. Causa Prima's autonomous agents aim to coordinate these exchanges at scale, potentially helping companies identify suitable transactions and manage their cash positions more effectively. Ament said the opportunity lies in automating financial processes that take place between organisations rather than focusing solely on internal corporate systems. The biggest inefficiency in corporate finance is no longer inside the company. It is between companies. That is where the next generation of financial infrastructure will be built, Ament said. The company aims to allow finance teams to concentrate on higher-level decisions while its platform handles routine communications and identifies potential savings through early-payment arrangements. Enterprise adoption attracts investor interest. Causa Prima's funding comes as the startup reports early adoption among large enterprise customers. The company says it is onboarding businesses with multi-billion-dollar scale and has more than 3,000 active accounts across its business networks. Track Investments Rexhi Dollaku, general partner at Base10 Partners, highlighted the size of the market opportunity and the company's progress as factors behind the investment. The reported adoption suggests that Causa Prima is seeking to establish its platform within complex business networks, where payment processes can involve numerous counterparties and large volumes of transactions. However, the company's longer-term growth will depend on its ability to expand customer adoption, integrate with existing financial systems and demonstrate that autonomous agents can handle sensitive payment negotiations reliably. Funding to support US expansion. Causa Prima plans to use the new capital to expand into the US market and continue developing its autonomous finance platform. The additional funding follows the company's $10 million pre-seed round only three months earlier, bringing its total financing to $30 million in a short period. The latest investment reflects investor interest in applying AI agents to business operations beyond customer service and internal productivity, particularly in financial workflows that require communication and coordination between separate organisations. For Causa Prima, the next stage will involve scaling its enterprise presence and developing the technology needed to automate more of the financial interactions that underpin B2B commerce.

The company focuses on an area of corporate finance that remains largely manual despite significant investment in financial software. According to a study by Atradius, nearly half of credit-based B2B sales in the US are overdue, highlighting the challenges businesses face in managing payments between companies. Causa Prima's platform uses autonomous agents to handle communications and negotiations between businesses, including disputed invoices and early-payment requests. Causa Prima raises 18 million euros in a new round led by Base10 Partners.

Causa Prima raises 18 million euros in a new round led by Base10 Partners. Causa Prima, a technology company specializing in the development of artificial intelligence solutions for business financial management, has closed a seed financing round of 18 million euros led by Base10 Partners. The transaction comes just three months after the company announced a first round of 10 million dollars, bringing the capital raised since its creation to 30 million. The new round includes the participation of QED Investors and FJ Labs, which join the company's shareholder base, as well as Creandum, Kfund and Borusan Ventures, investors who already participated in the first round and are now expanding their investment. The financing will allow Causa Prima to accelerate its expansion in the United States and continue developing its artificial intelligence platform, designed to automate financial relationships between companies. Since its launch, more than 3,000 companies have joined its network and the startup has already begun onboarding large corporate clients with billions of dollars in revenue. AI to automate financial relationships between companies. Despite investments made during recent decades in the digitalization of financial departments, a significant part of transactions between companies continues to depend on manual processes. The approval of invoices, the resolution of discrepancies, the negotiation of payment terms, or the tracking of outstanding collections still require numerous email exchanges and the direct intervention of financial teams. This is an especially relevant problem in the United States, where nearly half of B2B sales made on credit have payment delays, according to an Atradius study. Causa Prima seeks to solve this inefficiency through a platform of autonomous AI agents capable of directly managing interactions between the companies that make payments and those that receive them. Its technology makes it possible to automate processes such as invoice reconciliation and resolution, dispute management, payment tracking, and negotiation of early payment discounts, reducing administrative tasks and facilitating financial decision-making. One of its main applications is in working capital optimization. For example, a company may be willing to offer a discount in exchange for collecting an invoice before its due date, while its customer can use its available liquidity to benefit from that discount. However, identifying and negotiating these opportunities is especially complex when companies manage thousands of invoices and must manually coordinate the terms of each transaction. Through its AI agents, Causa Prima makes it possible to automate these negotiations and provide finance leaders with a more precise view of expected cash flows, outstanding obligations, and liquidity optimization opportunities. "The biggest inefficiency in corporate finance is no longer within companies, but in the relationships between them. That is where the next generation of financial infrastructure will be built," explained Maex Ament, co-founder and CEO of Causa Prima. "For years, companies have invested in automating their financial systems, but the last step of the process still depended on a person who had to request an approval, reconcile an invoice, or send another reminder. We have developed the technology that takes care of all that work. Financial teams can stop chasing responses and start making decisions with full control, also taking advantage of opportunities to save millions through early payment discounts," added Ament. A founding team with experience. Causa Prima was founded by Maex Ament, Henrik Gebbing and Philip Stanislaus, three entrepreneurs with experience in developing technology companies and solutions for the financial sector. Ament was previously co-founder of Taulia, a company specializing in working capital management technology that was acquired by SAP in 2022. Henrik Gebbing co-founded Finoa, a company specializing in digital asset custody, while Philip Stanislaus developed part of his professional career at Oak Security. The founding team's experience in the financial sector and the development of technology infrastructure has been one of the factors driving investor interest in the company. "Every dollar currently invested in automating accounts payable and accounts receivable starts from the premise that the main bottleneck is within a company. Causa Prima is building a solution for what happens between companies," says Rexhi Dollaku, general partner at Base10 Partners. "Our participation in this new round, just three months after the pre-seed financing, reflects both the magnitude of the problem they are addressing and the speed at which the team is developing its technology," adds Dollaku. With this new financing, Causa Prima will strengthen the development of its platform and its presence in the U.S. market, where it seeks to position itself as a new technology infrastructure for automating financial processes between companies.
