Requirements
  • At least 4 years of experience in civil engineering or a related field.
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program, or another bachelor's degree with at least 8 years of Architect-Engineering industry experience.
  • California Professional Engineer registration in Civil Engineering, or at least 8 years of Architect-Engineering experience.
  • Proficient knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project.
  • Proficiency in ESRI ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, or related geospatial software.
  • Proficiency in PDF software such as Bluebeam or Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to become proficient in new software and technologies.
  • Ability to maintain attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and take direction.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work productively without supervision.
  • Ability to take initiative and use a proactive approach.
  • Ability to kneel, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with project management.
  • Manage the workload of other engineering staff.
  • Meet with clients regarding work, team performance, and current and future work.
  • Prepare project concepts through final design plans, specifications, and estimates bid packages.
  • Solve design problems using engineering calculations and general design standards.
  • Prepare complete engineering reports related to civil site improvements, storm drainage, water distribution and transmission systems, pumping systems, pipelines, utilities, streets and roadways, bikeways, sanitary sewer collection systems, and water and wastewater facilities.
  • Prepare and support reports and technical writing for engineering projects, scopes of work, proposals, grants, and other initiatives.
  • Prepare project drawings and designs in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Use AutoCAD Civil 3D to establish horizontal and vertical alignments, profiles, and cross sections, and perform earthwork calculations.
  • Serve on project teams under the supervision of CWE project managers.
  • Complete assignments on time and within budget while meeting the firm's quality objectives.
  • Interact with public and private clients and stakeholders.
  • Interact with multidisciplinary and multi-office teams.
  • Apply engineering principles and practices to independently evaluate, select, and adapt standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Design complete projects, systems, components, or processes.
  • Prepare complete plans, specifications, and other project documents.
  • Design and conduct investigations.
  • Analyze and interpret test data.
  • Assign tasks to and direct technical and non-technical staff.
  • Assist with proposals for professional services or engineering-project funding.
Desired Qualifications
  • An MS, PhD, or other advanced degree in a related field.
  • Envision Sustainability Professional credential.
  • Membership in a professional practice organization such as ASCE, ACEC, or APWA.
  • Involvement in organizing or leading outreach and service activities with community service organizations.
