Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • At least two years of previous experience in a sales-oriented environment with a proven track record of success is required.
  • Compliance with the SAFE Act and registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System is required.
  • Working knowledge of agency underwriting guidelines and bank overlays for portfolio business is required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are required.
  • Ability to manage time effectively is required.
  • Presentation and public speaking skills are required.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office is required.
Responsibilities
  • Develop sales leads independently and in cooperation with Financial Center Managers or Business Development Officers to obtain new residential lending business relationships and product sales.
  • Manage a residential lending customer book of business, including a loan pipeline, customer inquiries, and relationships with Realtors and other centers of influence.
  • Assist borrowers with completing financing applications and gather and enter complete information as needed.
  • Analyze borrower qualifications to determine prequalified loan amounts and help borrowers identify appropriate loan programs and pricing.
  • Provide customer service by returning calls promptly, answering questions, and educating prospective borrowers about loan product types.
  • Comply with state, federal, and local laws, including fair lending and nondiscrimination requirements for mortgage services.
  • Develop and foster internal and external client referral relationships to generate a growing pipeline of loan applications.
  • Meet individual and department goals for sales activity, productivity, and processing times.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of lending functions, bank policy, and industry underwriting criteria while serving as a trusted advisor to clients.
  • Participate as a team member and represent the bank professionally.
  • Identify borrower cross-selling opportunities and make warm transfers to internal partners.
  • Complete annual compliance and other job-related training.
  • Comply with applicable bank regulations, policies, procedures, privacy standards, and ethics standards.
  • Interact frequently with operations staff, department leaders, back-office personnel, borrowers, depositors, referral sources, Realtors, and vendors.
