As a Test Engineer supporting the Lunar Permanence Integration and Test (I&T) team, you will be supporting our mission to return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth.
Lunar Permanence is Blue Origin’s team dedicated to developing mission architectures such as our planned Lunar Lander program, Blue Moon (Link: https://www.blueorigin.com/blue-moon). Our Lunar team is developing our Lunar Pathfinder mission will demonstrate the lander’s core capabilities – including the privately funded BE-7 landing engine, precision landing sensors, and advanced integrated power and propulsion architecture – on an early New Glenn flight.

Responsibilities:
- Apply direct experience to thermal/fluids component and subsystem test planning and execution, which could include development, qualification, acceptance, performance, and environmental testing.
- Decompose test standards and requirements into discrete executable events.
- Identify test events, needs and equipment required for test.
- Maintain fluids test equipment configuration control, calibration, and traceability.
- Design, procure, and install test support equipment; manage vendors and subcontractors during installation.
- Troubleshoot issues that arise during testing.
- Participate in gated design and test readiness reviews, pre- and post-test briefings, and post-test reviews.
- Write test procedures, manage procedural red lines, and incorporate updates during test campaigns.
- Coordinate support equipment for testing.
- Enforce safety policies during test planning and operations.
- Reduce, analyze, and archive test data.
- Integrate between thermal/fluids subsystems and overall system level vehicle to ensure component level testing compliance with overall vehicle test plans.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of relevant testing experience
- Solid understanding of pumped fluid loop hardware such as pumps, cold plates, radiators, valves, heat exchangers, etc
- Experience reading P&ID schematics/layout designs
- Familiarity with common spacecraft thermal hardware
- Demonstrated experience building and testing hardware.
- Experience with test facility instrumentation and Data Acquisition and Control Systems.
- Understand the Test Like You Fly assessment and exception process.
- A strong safety record.
- Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills.
- Experience working collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment.
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MS in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
- Technical expertise in component and system level testing of spaceflight hardware through development, qualification, and acceptance test campaigns
- Leading test teams as a Test Conductor or Test Engineer
- Experience with human-rated programs
- Familiarity with common spacecraft thermal hardware
- Understanding of heat transfer fundamentals in space environment
- Strong understanding of aerospace hardware verification and validation process
- Familiarity with SMC-S-016
- Experience with cryogenic testing, pressurized equipment, and vacuum systems.
- Experience with high voltage, 3-phase power systems.
- Proficiency in LabView, Python, MATLAB
Compensation Range for:
WA applicants is $96,480.00-$135,072.00
