Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical field is required.
  • Three to five years of design and/or product development experience.
  • Ability to work as a team-oriented person with good communication skills and strong self-motivation for self-direction on challenging tasks.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Responsibilities
  • Control and manage products across quality, cost, design, and delivery targets through product design activity.
  • Interface with customers on all technical aspects of electrical and electronic distribution systems design.
  • Create two-dimensional wire harness drawings in the customer's CATIA V5 or V6-based program and ensure drawing accuracy against specifications and guidelines.
  • Countermeasure and troubleshoot electrical problems and support value analysis and value engineering investigations to meet customer and internal cost targets.
  • Lead, coordinate, and participate in design reviews to progress designs through vehicle development stages.
  • Establish alternative solutions and countermeasures for design review results related to specification requirements, quality concerns, and value-added targets.
  • Support new business competition through application engineering for new technology, new products, and other value-added proposals.
  • Investigate, coordinate, and implement design changes between the customer and internal organization.
  • Create supporting design documents and present them to customer and internal groups.
  • Support creation of testing specifications to validate products against customer and market performance requirements.
  • Support scheduling, setup, reporting, and presentation of each test as it relates to test requirements.
  • Travel 10–15% within the United States and Mexico to support product maturation activity.
  • Work reasonable overtime related to the customer's design release schedule and urgent requests.
Desired Qualifications
  • BSEE or BSME is preferred.
  • Three to five years of design and/or product development experience, preferably with wire harnesses or related products in the automotive industry.
  • Experience with CATIA or another engineering systems computer-aided design system is preferred.
