Requirements
  • Ecclesiastical endorsement by a faith group or denomination.
  • A minimum of two units of Clinical Pastoral Education from an accredited Association for Clinical Pastoral Education center.
  • A nonjudgmental and inclusive presence.
  • Spiritual care experience working with terminal individuals, family members, and clinicians.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the hospice philosophy of care.
  • Awareness of end-of-life practices associated with different faith traditions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a hospice care team.
  • Ability to use electronic medical resources for care plans, interventions, and documentation.
  • Ability to meet federal and state requirements regarding criminal and abuse background checks.
  • Proof of a valid driver's license and reliable, insured transportation.
Responsibilities
  • Provide or coordinate spiritual care support to patients, family members, and caregivers.
  • Conduct timely spiritual assessments of patients and family members as required.
  • Assist with bereavement follow-up care as appropriate in collaboration with the bereavement coordinator.
  • Participate as a member of the hospice team in regularly scheduled care conferences, hospice admissions, and Interdisciplinary Group meetings.
  • Provide emotional and spiritual support to hospice team members as needed.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local spiritual leaders.
  • Participate in quality improvement programs and services.
  • Participate in the designated weekend on-call rotation.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Master of Divinity degree or equivalency.
  • Hospice care experience, with a one-year minimum.
