Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling highly confidential information.
  • Ability to work occasional nights and weekends and attend presentations and outreach events with little notice.
Responsibilities
  • Advise and counsel students, parents, and other interested parties regarding financial-aid programs.
  • Verify student files in accordance with federal and institutional requirements.
  • Process financial-aid appeals.
  • Manage a project or set of projects related to financial-aid programs and collaborate with other campus offices.
  • Conduct on- and off-campus financial-aid and financial-literacy presentations.
  • Provide financial-aid advising and participate in an extensive outreach program.
  • Review financial-aid data and perform verification, awarding, and adjustment of student financial-aid files.
  • Provide customer service to students and families seeking or receiving financial aid.
  • Advise students about financial-aid eligibility, application procedures, available programs, educational costs, debt management, and financial planning.
  • Counsel students and parents regarding financing a university education through email, phone, and in-person interactions.
  • Manage a student caseload and review applications for accuracy to determine financial need and award aid in accordance with federal, state, and institutional policies and regulations.
  • Calculate student award packages using software programs and federal, state, and university resources, including gift aid and self-help.
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations and university policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and verify information using required documents.
  • Process applications and corrections, conduct need analysis, track and evaluate documents, and verify the accuracy and consistency of financial-aid data, federal tax transcripts, financial-aid verification documents, and student information.
  • Generate award notifications or deny aid when applicants are ineligible.
  • Participate in the growth and development of the department.
  • Promote safe and secure working conditions.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with PowerFAIDS financial-aid software.
  • Knowledge of federal and state financial-aid programs and regulations.
  • Spanish-speaking ability.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • A strong service orientation toward students and families and an energetic, positive approach to work.
