Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Maintenance Supervisor in the recycling, manufacturing, transportation, disposal, or related industry which requires a thorough knowledge and application of safe working practices including OSHA Haz Com, OSHA Lock Out Tag Out, OSHA Fire Safety and other federal and state regulations; or participation in the Company’s management trainee program.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direction to all technician levels, as well as the lead technicians, in the maintenance shop and may manage a Maintenance Supervisor in a satellite maintenance shop or a Maintenance Supervisor, assigned to his or her work group to ensure that all repair and maintenance work is performed is a safe, efficient and timely manner.
  • Oversee the planning and scheduling of all repair work to increase productivity, while effectively managing the department’s overtime.
  • Monitor the shop’s operational performance and efficiency and take action to redirect activities as appropriate.
  • Report to management on shop performance, and implement procedures for process or programmatic changes for improvement for efficiencies.
  • Manage technicians and supervisor(s) in the maintenance shop, to include such responsibilities as overseeing daily shop huddles; facility and fleet walks; coaching and counseling lead technician and supervisor(s) on performance and corrective action, when necessary; make hiring and termination decisions, in concert with Human Resources and appropriate management; oversee employee training and performance evaluation; evaluate, recommend and approve supervisor recommendations for merit increase, promotion and job change recommendations, as appropriate.
  • Oversee payroll, maintain employee records, maintain records of all preventive and corrective maintenance performed, ensure the appropriate recording of all information into Dossier Maintenance Software, prepare and submit the budget for approval, set departmental goals to align with the targets and performance objectives established by the division’s leadership team.
  • Maintain an on-going preventive maintenance program for assigned locations. Identify trends in downtime, break downs; oversee maintenance of the building and other facility on site; control maintenance costs relating to personnel, purchasing, inventory control and outsourcing of repairs.
  • Manage outside repair facilities and repairs to ensure all work is properly completed in accordance with the Company’s safety and compliance procedures, and federal and state regulations; follow up where appropriate. Identify training opportunities and, as necessary, document issues and constructively discusses corrective action, as needed, with maintenance supervisor.
  • Conduct Quality Control Inspections, track issues and issue resolution to ensure all work is properly completed and is in accordance with the Company’s safety and compliance procedures, and federal and state regulations.
  • Maintains advanced knowledge of all Polymer Center Sorting/Grinding/Washing equipment, including all mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to manage advanced preventive and corrective maintenance functions of equipment used by the Company, including: stationary Polymer Center equipment such as conveyors, screens, reducers, balers, optical sorting units, air drum separators, compactors, magnets, dust collectors, metering bins, ballistic separators, delabelers, dewiring equipment, grinders/granulators, PET wash line equipment, optical flake sorting equipment, bulk material handling equipment, and others.
  • Manages routine external service/maintenance providers and contracts related to equipment such as air compressors, boilers, dust collectors, facility services, select OEM equipment, and others.
  • Knowledge of welding tools to fix heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner to ensure the equipment is back in an operable condition as quickly and as safely as possible.
  • Manage related administrative matters for the team, including payroll, maintain employee records, maintain records of all preventive and corrective maintenance performed, ensure the appropriate recording of all information into Dossier Maintenance Software, prepare and submit the budget for approval, set departmental goals to align with the targets and performance objectives established by the division’s leadership team.
  • May require local travel.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical & electrical schematics, P&IDs for the purpose of troubleshooting, preventive, and corrective maintenance.
  • Work with equipment suppliers for the preventive & corrective maintenance purposes, as well as continuous improvement efforts.
  • Work with Operations Manager to minimize unplanned downtime, including coordinating scheduled preventive maintenance activities while maintaining operational targets.
  • Partners with Operations Support team to ensure effective implementation and execution of company-wide maintenance systems and processes, such as CMMS and others.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.

New Solid Waste Services Agreement with Republic Services takes effect today. Tuesday, September 01, 2026 The City of Toledo's new Solid Waste Services Agreement with Republic Services (Allied Waste Services of North America, LLC) is in effect as of today, September 1, 2026. The five-year agreement continues residential trash, recycling, and bulk waste collection services for Toledo residents and establishes stronger performance standards to hold the company accountable for the level of service residents expect and deserve. There is no change to collection schedules, cart service, recycling guidelines, or bulk waste pickup. Residents should continue to set out trash, recycling, and up to 5 compliant bulk items on their regular collection day, following the same guidelines they have always used. New accountability measures. The new agreement establishes clear, measurable service standards - with financial credits owed back when Republic Services falls short. Highlights include: * A 99.5% monthly service completion rate. If Republic Services misses this threshold, the company owes the City credits that increase with the extent of the shortfall - up to $10,000 for performance below 98%. * Container delivery timelines. New or replacement trash and recycling carts must be delivered within 3 business days of the request, or the company will incur a daily penalty for each day it's late. * Spill cleanup within 8 hours. Any scattered or spilled waste or recycling material must be cleaned up within eight hours of notice. * 24-hour complaint response. Service complaints must receive a response within 24 business hours. * Monthly performance reporting. Republic Services must deliver monthly and annual data reports to the City by the fifth business day of the following month, with penalties for late reporting. * Fast call center response. The company's average answer time for customer service calls must remain under 3 minutes, with penalties for slower response times. * Proactive communication on service delays.
