About the job

Requirements
  • At least 8 years of marketing experience at high-growth companies, including experience building marketing at an early- or growth-stage B2B software company and scaling a marketing function.
  • Strong brand and positioning instincts, with the ability to make complex offerings clear, differentiated, and memorable and to refine company messaging as the product and market evolve.
  • Strong product marketing and storytelling skills, including the ability to work closely with customers and product teams and turn relevant insights into messaging, launches, campaigns, and content.
  • Deep understanding of growth and pipeline development in relationship-driven enterprise markets through account-based marketing, field marketing, events, partnerships, and demand generation.
  • Hands-on capability to write and edit copy, analyze campaign performance, use HubSpot, build presentations, shape events, and support strategic accounts.
  • Ability to set direction for functional owners, coach and develop team members, and build partnerships across Sales, Product, and customer-facing teams.
  • Ability to bring structure to ambiguity, move quickly, and work effectively with lean teams and imperfect information while building processes.
  • Active use of and experimentation with AI, and interest in applying AI, automation, analytics, and other tools to improve team impact.
Responsibilities
  • Set marketing strategy across brand, positioning, product marketing, growth, and field marketing.
  • Own the brand and positioning by turning the product and category into a clear, compelling story about what the company does, why it matters, and why now.
  • Translate customer stories, product launches, and proof points into campaigns, content, thought leadership, and sales materials.
  • Set growth strategy with the growth marketer by identifying audiences, channels, campaigns, and investments likely to create qualified pipeline, and connect findings to company and go-to-market strategy.
  • Develop field marketing strategy with the growth marketer and Sales team, using conferences, roundtables, dinners, partnerships, and other in-person events to build relationships and grow accounts.
  • Partner with Sales on strategic accounts, messaging, enablement, and campaigns to open, close, and expand government relationships.
  • Build the company's category and voice through thought leadership, public relations, partnerships, and creative campaigns.
  • Lead and grow the marketing team by setting priorities, coaching and developing team members, enabling strong work, and determining where to invest as the company scales.

About the company

Civic Roundtable builds a subscription-based online platform for public servants to connect across local, state, and federal levels. It helps break down silos by providing a member directory, access to experts, and practical resources, enabling government teams to learn from similar projects and apply best practices in real time. Its differentiation comes from a focused, real-world network for public-sector collaboration and tangible, immediately applicable insights, rather than generic knowledge platforms. The company aims to improve government operations and inter-agency coordination by making it easier to find experts, share findings, and access actionable guidance within a trusted civic ecosystem.

Civic Roundtable announces its first VP of Sales

Civic Roundtable announces its first VP of Sales. Civic Roundtable, Inc. is excited to share that Kraig Gardner has joined Civic Roundtable as its first VP of Sales. "Kraig deeply understands what it takes to support public servants with technology that actually improves day-to-day work," said Madeleine Smith, Cofounder of Civic Roundtable. "He's built teams around real customer needs, and he shares its belief that Roundtable fills a critical gap in government operations today: how to power the coordination necessary to advance interagency initiatives. Kraig brings a strong track record of building and leading high-performing sales teams at high-growth SaaS companies. Most recently, he led regional sales at a government technology firm where he scaled solutions adopted by government teams across the country. He has also held multiple sales leadership roles across the technology sector. "I'm thrilled to join Roundtable at a moment when the product is clearly resonating," said Kraig. "From nationwide federal initiatives to state and regional coordination, Roundtable gives agencies a digital front door to bridge silos across organizations and make a bigger impact for their communities. I'm excited to help grow that impact." As agencies are asked to do more with less, the need for modern government operations infrastructure has never been clearer. Roundtable is building the operating system for modern government work. In this role, Kraig will help expand its partnerships with agencies nationwide - ensuring more teams have a secure, purpose-built platform to advance the mission and deliver better outcomes. Welcome to Roundtable, Kraig - Civic Roundtable, Inc. is glad you're here.
