About the job
- High school diploma or GED.
- One to three years of experience as a journeyman HVAC technician.
- One to three years of plumbing experience.
- A current, valid driver's license.
- An EPA Universal License.
- Knowledge and experience in building construction, mathematics, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
- Computer skills sufficient to use the internal work order system effectively.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy equipment and maintaining strenuous positions.
- Physical ability to climb ladders, bend, and crawl into awkward spaces.
- Ability to take responsibility and follow safety procedures and legal regulations.
- People skills, verbal and written communication skills, and problem-solving skills.
- Organizational and time-management skills.
- Assemble, test, install, and maintain existing HVAC equipment and systems.
- Determine the causes of system and equipment failures.
- Use testing and metering equipment to test continuity, amperage, voltage, fluid levels, and pressure gauges.
- Install and maintain new HVAC equipment.
- Inspect and test systems for refrigerant leaks.
- Repair leaks, evacuate, clean, purge, and recharge systems.
- Advise the management team of critical systems that could be hazardous.
