About the company

American Battery Technology

American Battery Technology

View

American Battery Technology focuses on securing battery material supplies through three main activities: recycling used lithium-ion batteries, extracting metals from battery materials, and developing primary mineral resources. Its products and services enable the batteries that power electric vehicles, grid storage, and consumer electronics while promoting environmental and ethical sourcing. The company recovers valuable metals from spent batteries, processes them for reuse, and pursues new mineral resources to feed the battery supply chain. Unlike firms that rely solely on mining or recycling, ABAT combines advanced recycling, metal extraction technologies, and new mine development to create a more integrated, responsible supply of battery materials. The overarching goal is to provide a stable, ethical, and environmentally sound source of critical battery materials to support electric mobility and energy storage at scale.

What believers are saying

  • May 11 2026 revenue rose 64% quarter-over-quarter to $7.8 million, first positive gross margin.
  • August 20 2026, ABAT said DOE reinstated its $57 million grant after appeal.
  • November 6 2025, ABAT secured a BESS cleanup contract worth up to $30 million.

What critics are saying

  • March 31 2026 cash was $37.7 million; operations burned $19.6 million over nine months.
  • ABAT depends on equity issuance; it raised $45.5 million ATM and $10 million warrants.
  • Tonopah Flats still needs permits; denial would strand the $115 million refinery plan.

What makes American Battery Technology unique

  • ABAT runs Nevada's CERCLA-approved lithium-ion battery recycling plant.
  • ABAT sells directly to domestic strategic customers, not Asian refiners, since July 2024.
  • ABAT pairs recycling with Tonopah Flats lithium and 2026 second-facility plans.

American Battery hits positive gross margin as Q3 revenue climbs 64% to $7.8M

American Battery Technology Company (NASDAQ:ABAT) reported record fiscal Q3 revenue of $7.8 million on 11 May 2026, marking a 64% increase quarter over quarter. The company achieved its first positive gross margin whilst cost of goods sold rose only 11% over the same period. The revenue growth came from ramped operations at its Nevada critical mineral recycling facility. CEO Ryan Melsert said the positive gross margin milestone supports self-sustaining operations and will fund expansion of the recycling facility, development of a second facility, and construction of a lithium mine and refinery. On 28 April 2026, Maxim initiated coverage of American Battery with a Buy rating and $6 price target. The company develops battery materials technologies and explores for battery metals in the United States.

ABAT hits $5.1M Q2 revenue, up 1,300% YoY, as recycling drives growth

American Battery Technology Company reported $4.8 million in revenue for Q2 2026, marking a year-over-year increase of over 1,300%. Combined with interest income, the total reached $5.1 million, exceeding cash cost of goods sold of $4.9 million for the first time. Revenue growth was driven by increased processing volumes at the company's Nevada recycling facility, which became operational in early 2025. The firm is developing a second recycling facility in the Southeast US with five times the capacity of its current site. The company's Tonopah Flats Lithium Project received Fast-41 designation to accelerate federal permitting. A pre-feasibility study published in October 2025 outlines a 45-year mine life with projected annual production of 30,000 tonnes of lithium hydroxide monohydrate.
