Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • An acceptable criminal background check is required.
  • A security license must be obtained within 60 days of employment.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid certifications must be obtained in a timely manner.
  • State Emergency Management Agency Incident Command System 100 Higher Education and 700 courses must be passed with certifications obtained.
  • Candidates must be able to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Candidates must be able to use good judgment, think critically, and solve problems.
  • Candidates must be able to mediate, intervene, and remain calm during emergencies, hostile situations, and physical altercations.
  • Candidates must be able to work with large groups of students.
  • Effective communication skills are required.
  • Strong personal integrity is required.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office is required.
  • Candidates must be able to work different shifts, including days, afternoons, or midnights.
  • Candidates must be able to work indoors and outdoors in often extreme weather conditions.

  • Regular attendance is required.
  • Candidates must be able to use a two-way radio.

  • Candidates must be able to lift 25 pounds.
  • Candidates must be able to report to work during emergencies unless otherwise notified.
Responsibilities
  • Secure premises by patrolling property, monitoring surveillance equipment, and inspecting buildings and access points.
  • Uphold university standards and comply with the legal requirements of the Clery Act.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the university's Emergency Action Plan.
  • Enforce campus parking regulations.
  • Complete incident and accident reports for missing or stolen property and criminal activity, including detailed and accurate observations and information.
  • Conduct surveillance.
  • Interview witnesses and obtain signatures.
  • Support the university mission and serve as an ambassador of the culture of service excellence.
  • Model, support, and hold others accountable to the university's values.
  • Accompany visitors, students, and employees on campus upon request.
  • Provide public assistance, including lockout services, first aid, vehicle jump-starts, and traffic direction.
  • Prevent loss and damage through consistent reporting of concerns.
  • Educate violators on proper policies and procedures.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Security, military, or law enforcement experience is preferred.
