About the job

Requirements
  • 15+ years of software engineering experience, including production systems personally designed, built, and shipped.
  • Proven ability to build agentic artificial intelligence systems in production, including orchestration, tool use, and debugging agent failures.
  • Fluency in large language model orchestration patterns and practical experience with agent reliability.
  • Ability to become productive in a large, unfamiliar codebase within days or weeks.
  • Experience in business-to-business or enterprise software environments, including on-premises systems, legacy architectures, and compliance constraints.
  • Ability to explain a technical strategy to a chief technology officer and support it with a working demonstration.
  • Ability to work across organizational boundaries, pairing with engineers and presenting to executive teams.
Responsibilities
  • Identify recurring, high-yield feature patterns in portfolio company backlogs that consume disproportionate engineering time and effort.
  • Decompose recurring feature patterns into agent task hierarchies, orchestration flows, and validation loops.
  • Prototype agents end-to-end independently, proving the approach and value on real backlog items before involving other engineers.
  • Use data and working demonstrations to gain chief technology officer and chief product officer buy-in for dedicating engineering teams to agent development.
  • Technically lead the agent team by reviewing architecture, pairing on difficult problems, and setting quality standards for agent output.
  • Instrument and track agent evaluation and accuracy, engineering capacity freed, roadmap velocity, and defect rates.
  • Apply learnings across the portfolio and improve the approach and playbooks with each engagement.
Desired Qualifications
  • Consulting, private equity, venture capital portfolio operations, or multi-company technical leadership experience.

About the company

Turn/River Capital is a technology-focused private equity fund that makes growth equity investments, buyouts, recapitalizations, and spin-outs in small-scale technology and web companies. It works by providing capital plus hands-on operating support, with active involvement from partner and former CEO Dominic Ang to help management optimize go-to-market strategies, accelerate growth, and improve profitability through lean operations and web-enabled distribution. The firm positions itself as the bridge between venture capital and traditional private equity, targeting companies that are too capital-efficient for VCs, too small for PE, and too messy for strategics. The goal is to help these lean, web-focused companies scale profitably and reach meaningful exits or sustained growth.
