Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from an American Occupational Therapy Association-accredited program is required.
  • Current licensure by the Board of Allied Health Professionals, Commonwealth of Massachusetts, is required.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support for adults, children, and infants is required.
  • Demonstrated pursuit of continuing education courses relevant to occupational therapy is required.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and organizational skills are required.
  • Knowledge, experience, and proficiency in adult rehabilitation and geriatric populations are required.
  • Knowledge of growth and development across the life span is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized evaluation, document findings and progress, plan and implement treatment, educate patients and families, and determine rehabilitation and patient goals under the direction of a physician.
  • Assess patients and implement appropriate treatment plans according to diagnosis and status and in accordance with the Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics.
  • Complete initial evaluations, daily flow sheets, weekly progress notes, discharge summaries, statistics, and letters of justification for durable medical equipment in a timely manner.
  • Delegate appropriate duties to certified occupational therapy assistants, aides, and supportive personnel.
  • Coordinate and organize a full treatment caseload.
  • Attend and report at rehabilitation team, treating team, and family team conferences.
  • Provide or enhance staff, patient, and family education through continuing education courses, seminars, and review of current relevant literature.

  • American Occupational Therapy Association membership is preferred.
