NTEA Work Truck Week recap: introducing Wheels TradeFit + award winning upfits. By Jared Spaulding March 31, 2026 At this year's NTEA Work Truck Week, Wheels took center stage unveiling a new service offering, engaging directly with industry peers on the trade show floor and celebrating award-winning client vehicles. From innovation to recognition, the week offered a powerful snapshot of where the work truck industry is headed and how Wheels is helping to lead the way. Introducing Wheels TradeFit. Wheels was excited to showcase TradeFit a new, standardized upfitting solution designed to help fleets get work-ready vehicles on the road faster. Built around the most requested configurations across key trades, this solution streamlines the upfit process by offering predesigned, prequoted packages for both pickup trucks and cargo vans. By reducing the need for one-off custom builds, TradeFit helps minimize complexity, improve predictability, and shorten lead time. Tradeshow floor takeaways. Work Truck Week 2026 focused heavily on efficiency, standardization, and intelligent fleet tools. Industry conversations highlighted: * Innovations enabling faster installation and predictable upfit timelines. * Upfitting partners focused on collaborative design, safety-focused features, and solutions built to help drivers work smarter in the field. As I walked the floor, I was proud to see so many of its clients' vehicles visible; showcasing the breadth of industries, fleet solutions and vehicle applications Wheels supports. Industry recognition for its clients' upfitted vehicles. This year's Work Truck Week also delivered exciting news for two Wheels clients whose vehicles were recognized in the 2026 Upfit Package of the Year Awards, hosted by Work Truck and voted on directly by fleet managers. Ranger Design and BrightView took home the Van Upfit Package of the Year for its fully customized Ford Transit irrigation van. Adrian Steel and ADT won the Ford Maverick "Vehicle of the Future" upfit, a solution focused on organization, productivity, and real-world functionality for field technicians. These wins underscore the power of strong partnership, thoughtful design, and a commitment to delivering solutions that truly meet the needs of modern fleets. As the industry continues to evolve, Wheels remains focused on delivering practical innovations and collaborative solutions that help fleets operate more efficiently, safely and predictably. Events like Work Truck Week reinforce the value of strong partnerships and thoughtful design, and Wheels, Inc. is proud to help fleets turn that momentum into real-world impact.
Wheels honored with two AI Excellence Awards, showcasing leadership in applied AI. Wheels, a leader in fleet management and mobility, announced that it has received two 2026 AI Excellence Awards from the Business Intelligence Group (BIG). The company was recognized for its Machine Learning (ML) program and for its AI-powered policy intelligence platform in the Product category. These awards highlight Wheels' focus on innovating in ways that create real-time value for clients. By applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) to real operational challenges, Fleet Management Weekly is delivering measurable value for fleet clients through faster decisions, greater accuracy, and more consistent outcomes for clients today, and in the future. AI Excellence Award for Machine Learning Wheels was recognized for its ML program, which leverages more than eight decades of fleet data to optimize core operational processes. AI models support tasks such as validating odometer readings, reviewing repair orders, and identifying potential registration risks, reducing delays for customers while improving data quality. Thoughtfully automating decisions such as simple repair orders, enables its support teams to focus on handling complex and often more expensive transactions where they can save clients time and money. Beyond operational decisions, Wheels is also using AI to better understand the interactions happening every day between vehicle operators and support teams. By operating behind the scenes and continuously learning from real-world fleet behavior, Wheels' ML systems help reduce downtime, streamline operations, and elevate the vehicle operator's experience. AI Excellence Award in the Product Category The company's second award recognized its AI-powered fleet policy intelligence platform, which uses Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) technology. Built on decades of operational knowledge and a deep understanding of how fleet policies are created and applied, this platform turns complex, client-specific policy documents into instant, accurate answers. By grounding every response in approved policy content, the platform eliminates manual searches, improves consistency in responses, reduces delays during service and safety events, and supports faster resolution of inquiries. It delivers trusted guidance at scale and is already transforming internal vehicle operator support operations and is designed to expand into future self-service experiences. Innovation Focused on Client Impact According to Parsh Wanath, Vice President of Digital Engineering and Advanced Analytics at Wheels, the company's approach to AI is intentionally focused on practical impact for fleet clients. "These awards reflect our focus on innovating in ways that create real value and near-term impact for our clients," said Wanath. "At Wheels, AI isn't about technology for its own sake. We're using it to help fleet leaders run more efficient operations, give drivers faster support, and scale the expertise of our teams across every client interaction. Everything we build starts with one goal, which is putting our clients first."
Wheels wins AutoTech Breakthrough award for "Fleet Management Innovator of the Year" Wheels, a leader in fleet management and mobility, announced it has been named "Fleet Management Innovator of the Year" in the sixth annual AutoTech Breakthrough Awards program conducted by AutoTech Breakthrough, a leading market intelligence organization that recognizes the top companies, technologies and products in the global automotive and transportation technology markets today. The award recognizes Wheels' Pool CheckOut platform, an end-to-end pool management solution that improves utilization and transparency within a fleet by maximizing the use of shared vehicles. This self-service tool allows drivers and administrators to easily reserve and check out vehicles, while providing fleet managers with greater insight into the entire pool of vehicles to ensure idle assets are put to better use. "We're honored to receive this award from AutoTech Breakthrough, which is a powerful reflection of our team's passion for delivering creative mobility solutions." said Shlomo Crandus, CEO of Wheels. The solution also includes automated scheduling of any shared company asset to streamline and simplify the scheduling process. And it has checklist inspections that require drivers to capture damage at every checkout and return of a vehicle. Pool CheckOut also optimizes vehicle distribution by positioning vehicles where they're needed most, based on usage patterns. Its kiosk option securely stores the physical keys in a self-serve key box, while optional keyless access features, available for clients utilizing connected vehicles, allow drivers to lock and unlock their vehicles directly from the app. Through seamless integration with Wheels' FleetView(R) platform and the Wheels Mobile Assistant app, clients gain valuable insights into vehicle usage, and benefit from improved driver accountability and overall operational efficiency. The AutoTech sector is rapidly redefining the way people and goods move - transforming one of the world's largest and most vital industries.
