Requirements
  • Demonstrate expertise in problem-solving skills, including identifying, investigating, and developing countermeasures for manufacturing or supplier-related technical or systemic issues.
  • Be able to work independently and be self-directed.
  • Build effective teams and work with suppliers, plant manufacturing, and purchasing to ensure deliverables are met.
  • Have experience with manufacturing processes for components.
  • Have experience with automotive components and functional requirements.
  • Have a four-year technical or business degree; equivalent education is defined as two years of closely related Manufacturing and Quality experience for each year of education.
  • Show legal authorization to work in the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Support continuous-improvement projects and quality assignments.
  • Provide Quality Engineering support in new product development, including developing assembly methods, assembly-line layout, and capacity analysis.
  • Use data, lean principles, and problem-solving methodologies to solve problems, prevent recurrence, and propose solutions.
  • Support Horton’s Environmental and Quality Management Systems, including ISO 14001, ISO 9001, and IATF 16949.
  • Communicate with all levels of the company, customers, and suppliers.
  • Perform capability studies and use Minitab software to analyze data.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of Process Flow, Process Failure Mode and Effects Analyses, and Control Plans.
  • Initiate corrective actions, including 8D reports, and use the Three-Legged 5 Whys tool to determine root causes for customer complaints, internal and external audit findings, and internal and external product failures or defects.
  • Conduct IATF 16949 and other internal audits.
  • Assist with developing PPAP documentation for customers and reviewing supplier PPAPs.
  • Assist in designing or purchasing measuring equipment to meet product specifications and improve throughput through automated gauging.
  • Travel up to 25% domestically and internationally for customer and supplier visits.
