- Provide in-room support for patients on airborne precautions when required.
- Measure, record, and empty urine collection devices.
- Empty bedpans and commodes.
- Reinforce established education materials or room orientation with patients and families.
- Transport patients off the unit for tests and procedures.
- Discontinue peripheral intravenous lines.
- Obtain point-of-care specimens and urine, wound, stool, throat, and nasal specimens.
