  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • One to three years of related work experience is required; two years of related work experience is required for candidates without a related bachelor's degree.

  • Ability to provide professional, respectful, service-oriented customer service to patients, visitors, staff, and external customers, using active listening and problem-solving skills and remaining calm in stressful situations.
  • Employees must be competent to provide patient care to young adults aged 16–30, middle-aged adults aged 30–60, and elderly adults aged 60 and older.
  • Ability to perform light work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently; the job includes some sedentary work and requires standing for periods or moving throughout the hospital campus.
  • Staff must be vaccinated against influenza as a condition of employment.
Responsibilities
  • Determine, independently or with clinicians, the resources that best meet patients' and families' needs; use knowledge of local and state resources to develop multifaceted service plans for complex needs and make independent decisions about recommended services.
  • Maintain a caseload involving multiple patient contacts each day, including phone calls, paperwork, and face-to-face contacts; serve as the primary health care contact for psychosocially complex patients when needed; and document promptly and appropriately in paper and electronic medical records.
  • Advocate for patients through written and verbal communication; help patients and families access entitlement programs; and provide appropriate medical information to extended care facilities, the Department of Transitional Assistance, and other relevant parties when requested.
  • Conduct staff and community-based training on resources, and update staff on procedural requirements and changes required by state and local agencies.
  • Document and advise the supervisor and clinical staff about obstacles to obtaining services that require social action; develop liaisons with community and governmental agencies to facilitate negotiation of complex systems; and visit agencies when indicated to broaden knowledge and relationships.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in Social Work or Human Services is preferred.
  • A Licensed Social Worker license is preferred.

Beth Israel Lahey Health rolls out Heidi's AI scribing to all physicians after 90% report better patient presence

Beth Israel Lahey Health is rolling out Heidi's ambient AI scribing tool to all its physicians following a successful trial across its facilities. The health system, which serves over 6,000 providers across 14 hospitals and 175 primary care practices, prioritises addressing physician burnout, with nearly half of US physicians reporting burnout. During a six-month trial offering Heidi to 1,000 providers, the majority adopted the technology. Survey results showed 89% were satisfied with note quality, 90% felt more present with patients, 74% reduced after-hours work time, and 82% experienced reduced cognitive load during visits. The implementation demonstrates how ambient AI can deliver immediate relief to physicians whilst benefiting patients and the healthcare system. Heidi supports over 2 million consultations weekly globally and has raised $96.6 million from investors including Point72 Private Investments and Blackbird.
