Fidelity's Timmer says AI bubble risk lies in debt, as CoreWeave bond yields top 15%

Fidelity's director of global macro, Jurrien Timmer, says any AI bubble may sit in debt markets rather than stocks. Yields on bonds from AI cloud provider CoreWeave topped 15% last week, even as equity valuations fall. Timmer compared CoreWeave's yield with a Bloomberg index of junk-rated telecom bonds from the 1998 to 2000 boom. In that era, the warning came from debt, not dot-com stocks. Highly rated AI borrowers still look stable, he said. CoreWeave's 2031 notes yielded 15.78% last Thursday. Its debt rose from $21 billion at the end of 2025 to $35 billion by June 30, and net interest expense of $640 million took about a quarter of second-quarter revenue. Chief executive officer Mike Intrator said its backlog, near $104 billion, more than covers its debt.

CoreWeave launches Zero Trust AI Framework to give customers control of models and data

CoreWeave (Nasdaq: CRWV) has launched the CoreWeave Zero Trust AI Framework, a security model that lets customers control access to their models, data, and runtime environments. It was unveiled at NVIDIA GTC Berlin. Customers can bring their own security systems to CoreWeave Cloud instead of rebuilding around the provider's model. The framework has six layers: customer-held encryption keys, customer-approved support access, hardware-based infrastructure verification, confidential computing for data in use, a pledge not to train on customer data, and encrypted network traffic. CoreWeave plans to add NVIDIA's third-generation Confidential Computing, including on HGX Rubin NVL8, which arrives on CoreWeave Cloud in Q4 2026. "The Zero Trust AI Framework replaces assurances with architecture," said Chen Goldberg, executive vice president of product and engineering at CoreWeave.

Musk calls AI capacity glut talk "ridiculous", lifting CoreWeave and Nebius after SpaceX's $14.58B quarter

Elon Musk lifted neocloud stocks a week after hurting them, saying talk of excess AI infrastructure capacity is "ridiculous." He spoke on SpaceX's earnings call late Tuesday. "I do not think we are going to have a demand issue here," Musk said. He added that a six-month payback period for compute next year is not impossible. Last week, Musk replied "Yikes" on X to a post about rising yields on CoreWeave's bonds, which helped fuel a sell-off in CoreWeave and Nebius shares. In pre-market trading Wednesday, CoreWeave and Nebius each gained 2%, and IREN rose 3%. SpaceX's third-quarter revenue was $14.58 billion, up 161% year over year and above analyst estimates of $12.7 billion. Earnings per share were $0.35, $0.20 ahead of forecasts.

CoreWeave stock down 56.9% in a year: why waiting until November may pay off

CoreWeave shares have fallen 56.9% over the past twelve months, while the S&P 500 returned 17.4%. The AI cloud company more than doubled its revenue in that time. The stock now trades at $61.12, near its lowest close of the year. The business has swung from a 6.3% operating margin to a 3.0% operating loss. It generated $6.9 billion in operating cash but free cash flow was negative $13.7 billion, and total debt equals 153.2% of market value. Revenue backlog reached $104.2 billion, up 246% year on year. CoreWeave raised its 2026 revenue guide to $12.4 billion to $13.2 billion. Analysts expect third-quarter revenue of $3.62 billion, just above the company's $3.45 billion to $3.6 billion guide. Results are due around November 11, 2026.

Cathie Wood buys $8M of CoreWeave after 30% slide, sells $3.6M of Palantir

Cathie Wood's ARK Invest bought about $8 million of CoreWeave (NASDAQ: CRWV) and sold about $3.6 million of Palantir (NASDAQ: PLTR). The trades, made on October 19, involved 132,498 CoreWeave shares bought and 18,349 Palantir shares sold. CoreWeave shares have fallen about 30% in October on worries about its debt, heavy capital spending, and returns on AI infrastructure. Goldman Sachs recently upgraded the stock to Buy. Palantir has risen roughly 55% since its early-August earnings report. Second-quarter revenue grew 93% year over year, but its valuation already reflects much future growth. Goldman also upgraded it this month, with a $230 target. The moves look like a valuation rotation: buying the punished stock and trimming the rewarded one.
