Morgan Sindall, Shell and Balfour Beatty screen as undervalued UK cash flow stocks

UK consumer confidence has fallen at a pace not seen since the Brexit vote, as households face higher tax expectations and rising energy costs. Simply Wall St says that may leave cash-generating British shares trading below estimated fair value. Its screen of London-listed stocks flags three: Morgan Sindall Group, Shell, and Balfour Beatty. The screen found 29 more companies. Morgan Sindall, valued at £1.8b, has a secured order book up 39% to £12b, tied to long public sector contracts. Shell has a market cap of £222b and an LNG portfolio above 60 million tons. Balfour Beatty, worth £3.9b, relies on long-life concessions and maintenance contracts for steadier cash flow.

Three undervalued UK stocks for October 2026: Morgan Sindall, Shell, Smith & Nephew

Simply Wall St has named three London-listed stocks it says trade below estimated fair value based on future cash flows: Morgan Sindall Group, Shell, and Smith & Nephew. Airsys and Shell demo spray liquid cooling using 80% less fluid than immersion systems

Airsys and Shell Lubricants are demonstrating spray liquid cooling technology for data centers at the 2026 OCP Global Summit in San Jose, California, from 12-15 October. The system uses Shell's cooling fluid in Airsys's patented spray liquid cooling platform, designed for mid-density AI, data center, telecom, and edge environments. The technology delivers targeted heat removal from CPUs and GPUs whilst using up to 80% less dielectric fluid than immersion systems. The cassette-based architecture supports both retrofit and new-build environments with scalable deployment. A live demonstration will take place on 14 October at the OCP Liquid Immersion Community Outreach event, where attendees can view a running server being cooled through a transparent demonstration cassette.

Shell greenlights $730M LNG Canada Phase 2, doubling Kitimat capacity to 28 mtpa

Shell Canada Energy has approved the expansion of its LNG Canada facility in Kitimat, British Columbia, doubling production capacity from 14 million tonnes per annum to 28 mtpa. Shell holds a 40% stake in the joint venture, with partners including Malaysia's PETRONAS, China's PetroChina, Japan's Mitsubishi Corporation, and South Korea's Korea Gas Corporation. The Phase 2 expansion will add two LNG processing trains, storage facilities, and expanded pipeline capacity through the 670-kilometre Coastal GasLink pipeline. Commercial operations are expected to begin in the early 2030s. At peak construction, the project will require up to 4,000 jobs in Kitimat and approximately 2,100 along the pipeline. LNG Canada and the governments of British Columbia and Canada estimate Phase 2 could generate more than $50 billion in government revenues over the project's life.

Shell and Star Bulk profit as refining shutdowns and longer shipping routes tighten global supply

Louis Navellier has identified two stocks poised to benefit from global supply constraints: Star Bulk Carriers Corp. and Shell plc. Star Bulk Carriers is capitalising on elevated dry bulk shipping rates driven by longer, riskier routes. The company operates 138 vessels and earned $1.21 per share in Q2, up 1,000% year-over-year, beating analyst estimates by 30.1%. Analysts expect Q3 earnings to grow 307% year-over-year. Shell is benefiting from refining shortages after damage to approximately 20 Middle Eastern refineries reduced global capacity by 3.52 million barrels per day. US diesel inventories hit their lowest September level since 1982. Shell's Q2 adjusted earnings climbed 131% year-over-year to $9.84 billion, marking its best quarterly profit in four years.
