What believers are saying

  • Fiscal Q3 2026 revenue hit $109.4 billion, with iPhone up 22% and Mac up 29%.
  • Apple Maps ads launched August 14, 2026, opening a high-intent local search revenue stream.
  • Apple Upgrade and 3% Daily Cash deepen financing-led upgrades and retention.

What critics are saying

  • EU regulators forced ATT changes on August 18, 2026, and Germany monitors seven years.
  • Memory shortages and chip inflation threaten September 2026 iPhone margins and launch timing.
  • EU DMA enforcement can hollow out App Store fees and break Apple's services margin engine.

What makes Apple unique

  • Apple's iPhone, Mac, iPad, Watch, and Services lock 2.5 billion devices together.
  • Apple's privacy brand still differentiates Maps ads and ATT from Google-style targeting.
  • Tim Cook's hardware-software integration keeps premium pricing through custom silicon and software.

ChatGPT gains iMessage control, raising Apple privacy concerns

OpenAI has enabled ChatGPT to control Apple's iMessage service, a development that could spark privacy concerns. The new feature, rolled out on Thursday, allows the AI assistant to interact with the messaging platform. The integration raises questions about data handling and user privacy, particularly given Apple's strong emphasis on protecting customer information. No specific privacy measures or safeguards accompanying the feature were detailed in the announcement. The move represents ChatGPT's expanding capabilities in controlling core smartphone functions, though the implications for Apple's privacy-focused ecosystem remain unclear.

Apple's Q3 revenue surges 16% to $109.4B as analysts eye $359 target ahead of iPhone 17 and Siri AI

Apple reported its ninth consecutive earnings beat in fiscal Q3 2026, with revenue rising 16% year-over-year to $109.4 billion. iPhone revenue surged 22% to $54.3 billion, whilst Mac grew 29%. CEO Tim Cook called it the company's strongest June quarter ever, with double-digit growth across iPhone, Mac and Services in every geographic segment. EPS came in at $2.02, beating consensus estimates of $1.89. Analysts are increasingly bullish, with 61% maintaining buy ratings. However, challenges remain. Cook warned of supply constraints and memory pricing pressures heading into the September quarter. Gross margin guidance of 47% to 48% includes a one-time tariff refund benefit that won't repeat. The company is investing heavily in its next product cycle, spending $11.73 billion on R&D in Q3.

Apple stock surges 2.8% to $318.60 as investors return to mega-caps, pushing market value toward $4.7T

Apple's stock rose approximately 2.8% to $318.60 on Wednesday as investors returned to mega-cap technology stocks following Tuesday's decline. The move pushed Apple's market value towards $4.7 trillion. The iPhone maker reported strong fiscal third-quarter results, with revenue jumping 16% to $109.4 billion and earnings surging 29% to $2.02 per share. Services generated $30.7 billion, whilst gross margin reached 50.1%. However, the stock now trades at a premium valuation of 37 times trailing earnings and sits 12.4% above its estimated fair value of $283.59. Management expects growth to moderate in the September quarter, raising questions about whether the current valuation can be sustained without significant new catalysts from artificial intelligence integration.

Apple launches leasing program with monthly payments for iPhones, iPads and Macs

Apple has launched Apple Upgrade, a hardware leasing programme allowing US customers to make interest-free monthly payments for iPhones, iPads, Macs and Apple Watches through Klarna. The programme offers 12- or 24-month leases for phones and watches, and 24- or 36-month leases for computers and tablets. Customers do not own devices after completing payments. For example, the iPhone 17 Pro costs $1,099 outright or $31.99 monthly over 24 months, totalling $767.76 in lease payments. At lease end, customers can return the device and upgrade, return without upgrading, or pay a residual value fee to keep it. Technology attorney Kirk Sigmon noted the psychological appeal of lower monthly payments but warned consumers risk accumulating too many recurring obligations alongside existing subscriptions.

Jim Cramer calls Apple under Tim Cook 'greatest consumer-based enterprise in history

Jim Cramer described Tim Cook's tenure at Apple as building "the greatest consumer-based enterprise in history" during a recent Mad Money episode. Cook, who succeeded Steve Jobs in 2011, is stepping down in September to become executive chairman, with hardware engineering chief John Ternus taking over as CEO. Cramer argued that Apple achieved premium valuations typically reserved for enterprise software companies through emotional attachment rather than contractual obligations. Under Cook's leadership, Apple's active device base grew to over 2.5 billion units, driving recurring revenue through services like iCloud, App Store, and Apple Music. In Q3 fiscal 2026, Apple posted revenue of $109.42 billion, beating analyst expectations of $108.65 billion, with earnings per share of $2.02 versus the $1.89 consensus estimate.
