Requirements
  • At least two years of work experience in human services with children with autism and co-occurring physical, behavioral, and mental health challenges, and their families.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required, with at least six months of driving history, adequate insurance when using a personal vehicle, a safe driving record, and successful completion of a driver's screening background check.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, lift at least 25 pounds or use a two-person lift, operate office equipment, assist clients with daily living tasks, and communicate with clients, staff, and external representatives.
  • CPR certification is required within two weeks of hire.
  • First Aid certification is required within two weeks of hire.
  • Safety Care certification is required within 90 days of hire.
Responsibilities
  • Implement service plan interventions for children and young adults with autism spectrum disorder.
  • Provide direct training and support, including instruction, assistance, modeling, and reinforcement, to develop daily living skills.
  • Maintain and update documentation in individual and program records.
  • Advocate for persons served.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing with coworkers, supervisors, service providers, and funding agency personnel.
  • Escort persons served into the community using public transportation, a company vehicle, or a personal vehicle as necessary.
  • Monitor the status of persons served and provide crisis intervention and counseling as needed.
  • Report incidents to the on-call manager or supervisor as required.
  • Perform assigned housecleaning tasks.
  • Attend assigned in-service trainings and staff meetings.
  • Adhere to program, company, internal, and external policies, procedures, standards, and regulations.
  • Provide outreach to persons served living in their own homes when needed.
