Requirements
  • A doctoral, master's, or bachelor's degree from an accredited physical therapy program, or a physical therapy certificate.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or equivalent is required upon hire or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • A current Physical Therapist license in Pennsylvania or New Jersey, based on work location, is required.
  • Successful completion of required affiliations.
  • At least one year of experience as a physical therapist in an outpatient setting.
  • Current CPR certification is required.
  • Ability to sit for up to ninety minutes at a time and stand for thirty to forty-five minutes consecutively.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to manipulate machine dials.
  • Ability to occasionally stoop, bend, squat, crouch, kneel, and reach above shoulder level.
  • Ability to lift and move patients up to 50 pounds and push or pull patients weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Tactile sensation sufficient to assess muscle spasms, texture, and skin temperature.
  • Hearing sufficient for normal conversation and vision sufficient for general vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive initial evaluations to identify functional deficits and develop treatment plans to improve mobility, reduce or manage pain, restore function, and prevent disability.
  • Provide skilled interventions tailored to patient needs and preferences using appropriate techniques, modalities, and equipment.
  • Collaborate with patients to create short- and long-term goals.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, families, and other healthcare providers while ensuring informed consent, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Manage patients through direct or indirect treatment or referral to another provider as appropriate.
  • Establish and update diagnoses, prognoses, and plans of care based on available evidence and clinical reasoning.
  • Review and record patient information in medical records, including evaluation findings, treatment plans, treatment responses, and status changes.
  • Educate patients and family members about prognosis and care options.
  • Assist in developing and implementing department programs.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, continuing education activities, and professional development opportunities.
  • Monitor and document patient progress, outcomes, and satisfaction with services.
  • Share clinical knowledge and new techniques to improve patient care.
  • Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants as assigned.
  • Supervise physical therapy students and observers as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality of materials handled within the network and ensure proper release of information.
  • Comply with network and departmental policies regarding employee, patient, and environmental safety and follow reporting requirements.
  • Adhere to ethical, legal, and regulatory standards of the physical therapy profession and the healthcare organization.
  • Demonstrate the network's service excellence standards in interactions with internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrate performance improvement in clinical care and outcomes, customer and service improvement, operational systems and processes, and safety, as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate financial responsibility through effective and efficient use of resources in daily procedures, processes, and practices.
  • Comply with network and departmental policies regarding attendance and dress code.
  • Demonstrate competency in assessment, treatment range, knowledge of growth and development, and communication appropriate to the patient's age.
  • Attend designated or requested meetings.
  • Accurately bill patient accounts for services rendered.
  • Provide in-service training to physical therapy department staff and others.
  • Participate in quality improvement data collection and planning.
  • Attend multidisciplinary meetings as applicable.
  • Clean and order supplies as assigned by the facility director for daily operations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, such as peer record review.
