About the job

Requirements
  • At least 10 years of experience.
  • Deep expertise in grocery, apparel, or large omnichannel retail, with working knowledge of the end-to-end retail value chain and how its stages drive customer demand, service volume, and service exceptions.
  • First-hand practitioner experience inside leading grocery, apparel, or omnichannel retailers, including partnering with frontline teams and redesigning operations at enterprise scale; advisory-only experience is insufficient.
  • A proven track record across service strategy and advisory, experience design, operating model transformation, technology and AI transformation, and enterprise delivery. Consulting background is valuable, while strong industry leadership experience also qualifies.
  • Hands-on shopper or customer service experience across order status and delivery-exception handling; substitutions, out-of-stock and refund or credit resolution; returns and reverse-logistics servicing; loyalty, rewards and membership servicing; complaint, feedback and social or review response; and multi-channel delivery across mobile app, web, WhatsApp, voice and social, with consistent resolution regardless of entry channel.
  • Supplier and partner service experience, including onboarding, compliance and account management; forecast, purchase-order and inventory collaboration; quality issues, disputes and score-carding; invoice, payment and reconciliation servicing; and supplier or partner portals, EDI exchanges and account-management workflows.
  • Store and workforce service experience, including inventory accuracy, price integrity and promotion execution at store level; pick, pack and in-store fulfilment; store-to-contact-centre escalation and case hand-off; associate empowerment tools such as store apps, picker or associate devices and knowledge assistants; and workforce scheduling, service standards and frontline performance management.
  • Fulfilment and ecosystem service experience, including delivery orchestration, routing and ETA or live tracking; failed-delivery, missed-slot and delivery-recovery workflows; reverse logistics and returns-to-warehouse operations; driver, dispatcher and 3PL partner management; and last-mile SLAs, on-time performance and partner score-carding.
  • Working knowledge of core retail service processes, including order-to-delivery, returns and refunds, complaint and case management, store-to-contact-centre escalation, substitution and refund workflows, and supplier dispute resolution; the SLAs and benchmarks that define operational excellence; and how cases move through detection, triage or categorisation, routing or assignment, investigation or enrichment, decision or approval, orchestration, execution or communication, and confirmation or closure.
  • Exposure to the retail service technology and AI stack: CRM and CCaaS platforms (Genesys, NICE, Salesforce Service Cloud, Five9, Amazon Connect); knowledge and case management (ServiceNow, Zendesk); conversational and agentic AI (Kore.ai, Dialogflow); systems of record (OMS, POS, WMS, TMS, ERP, PIM/MDM, pricing and promotions engines); supplier or EDI portals and IoT/GPS-enabled tracking; and AI/ML capabilities including intent detection, content enrichment, knowledge graphs, policy or rules engines, predictive or prescriptive models, decisioning or optimisation, and root-cause analytics.
  • Experience designing target operating models that combine human and AI or agentic capacity, including reusable service capability design, hybrid workforce design, and governance and guardrail frameworks for policy and business rules, approvals and escalation, human-in-the-loop controls, SLAs and entitlements, privacy and consent, security and access, compliance and audit, model or agent performance governance, ethics and bias controls, and data quality and traceability.
  • A demonstrated track record of measurable outcomes in customer value (NPS/CSAT, trust, advocacy); growth (repeat purchase rate, average order value, attach rate, customer lifetime value); service quality and productivity (first-contact and overall resolution, reduced cost-to-serve and contact volume, higher associate productivity); and availability and resilience (in-stock rate, on-time delivery or payment, margin protection, and supply or compliance resilience).
  • Executive stakeholder management, communication and storytelling; ability to build and defend a business case at board level; fluency across business, experience, operations, technology and AI/data teams; and ability to translate complex operating models into a clear enterprise narrative.
  • Experience in retail, customer service or enterprise service transformation, including large-scale programmes delivered end-to-end from strategy through implementation.
  • The role requires building and leading a team of Managers, Consultants and Analysts and carrying accountability for generating business development opportunities upwards of USD 4M.
Responsibilities
  • Define enterprise and omnichannel service strategy across shopper, store, supplier and fulfilment ecosystems.
  • Shape AI-native service vision, target operating models and multi-year transformation roadmaps.
  • Develop business cases, prioritize investment and establish value-realization frameworks.
  • Advise boards and C-suite executives on sequencing quick wins against enterprise-scale change.
  • Map end-to-end journeys for shoppers, associates and suppliers across ordering, delivery, returns, loyalty, complaints, store operations, contact centres, onboarding, purchase orders, invoicing and disputes.
  • Blueprint services across people, process, data and technology layers.
  • Identify moments of truth and design service recovery for stock-outs, failed deliveries, substitutions and disputed refunds.
  • Define channel strategy spanning mobile app, web, WhatsApp, voice, social, store desk and associate or picker devices.
  • Design target operating models spanning shopper services, supplier services, store and workforce services, and fulfilment or ecosystem services.
  • Design the workforce across shoppers, store associates, pickers and inventory teams, contact-centre specialists and leads, supplier account teams, and delivery partners or dispatchers.
  • Establish governance frameworks for policy and business rules, approval and escalation thresholds, SLAs and entitlements, and human-in-the-loop checkpoints.
  • Build KPI and performance frameworks tied to customer value, growth, margin, operational efficiency and enterprise resilience outcomes.
  • Set CRM and CCaaS platform strategy using platforms such as Genesys, NICE, Salesforce Service Cloud, Five9 and Amazon Connect.

  • Integrate order, store and supply-chain systems of record, including OMS, POS, WMS, TMS, ERP and supplier or EDI portals, as well as IoT/GPS-enabled field and delivery tracking.
  • Build service analytics, predictive and prescriptive models, and root-cause analysis capability.
  • Design hybrid workforce models blending advisors, associates, AI copilots and autonomous agents across shopper, supplier, store and fulfilment domains.
  • Design agents for high-volume service capabilities, including order status, substitutions, returns, refunds, delivery orchestration, supplier collaboration and dispute resolution.

Accenture jumps 19% on earnings beat as SEC opens private assets to retail investors

Accenture shares rose about 19% after the consulting firm beat earnings and revenue expectations for its fiscal 2026 year, and guided fiscal 2027 slightly above Wall Street forecasts. Revenue grew 5% in local currency; management expects 3% to 6% growth next year. Non-GAAP operating margin edged up to 15.8%. The stock had dipped below 10 times expected earnings and now trades at about 14 times. Accenture said 65% of new bookings came from outcome-based fixed-price projects, which a Motley Fool contributor called a counterweight to AI's unpredictable costs. Separately, new US Securities and Exchange Commission rules aim to open private assets to retail investors. They raise the performance fee cap for registered advisers, add professional licences as a route to accredited investor status, and give private funds more leeway on redemptions.

Accenture eyes $1.5B Greater China sale while building Gemini AI launchpads for US agencies

Accenture's federal arm, Accenture Federal Services, is working with Google Public Sector on Gemini launchpads for US federal agencies. Separately, Accenture is reviewing options for its Greater China business, including a possible sale. A deal was reported at up to $1.5 billion, and the company has hired JPMorgan to explore options. Accenture, a US-based IT consulting and managed services group, has a market value of about $141.3 billion. Investors are watching for contract wins from the Gemini work and any formal update on the China review.

TÜV SÜD and Accenture unveil physical AI safety suite to bring factories online up to 30% sooner

TÜV SÜD and Accenture are working with NVIDIA technologies to speed up safety certification of robots in factories and warehouses. They unveiled a joint "Physical AI Safety Suite" at NVIDIA GTC Berlin. The suite uses digital twins, AI agents, and simulations to partly replace manual assessments. TÜV SÜD estimates the digital process could bring production online up to 30% sooner. Certification against standards such as ISO 3691-4 is mandatory in many industrial countries before automated facilities can start. At a medium-sized plant, agreeing on safety concepts can take several weeks. The suite checks layouts, robot fleets, and individual robots before deployment. TÜV SÜD provides independent assessment and keeps responsibility for certification.

Accenture caps staff AI spending at $29 a month after $1,000 bills

Accenture has capped employee AI spending at $29 (£21.75) a month after some staff ran up bills of $1,000, according to a report by 404 Media. The consulting firm wants to curb runaway costs as employees use AI for more everyday tasks. Companies are typically billed by usage, like a utility. Last week, some staff were told their access to Anthropic's Claude had been pulled entirely. Others are also reining in costs. Uber capped engineers' Claude spending at $1,500 a month after using up its AI budget in four months, while Microsoft has reportedly cut its Claude spending by about a third. The curbs come as Anthropic prepares for a public listing, targeting a valuation as high as $2tn. Investors are reportedly considering about $1.5tn.

Accenture's AI push: analysts see earnings reaching $10.3B by 2029 on 5.2% yearly revenue growth

Accenture is shifting AI work from pilots to deeply embedded systems, according to recent deals with UMass Memorial Health, Dell, Microsoft and Workday. The UMass Memorial project is a multi-year AI data platform, while the Dell alliance pitches private AI infrastructure to regulated clients. Analysts expect revenue to grow 5.2% a year over the next three years, with profit margins rising from 11.3% to 11.9%. They forecast earnings of $10.3 billion by 2029, up from $8.4 billion today, on revenue of $86.3 billion. The stock trades at a price-to-earnings ratio of 14.2x, against 21.9x for US IT peers. Risks include slower decision cycles in federal and EMEA work, which could curb consulting demand and margins.
