Five or more years of related laboratory experience and/or an entry-level bachelor's degree in a technical or science-related area.
Knowledge of materials, substances, and their characteristics.

Responsibilities
Perform routine metallurgical and physical analysis and laboratory testing of submitted or self-collected material samples used in products and manufacturing processes.
Make decisions within the limits of general standards or procedures, work without continual supervision, and reprioritize work according to established guidelines.
Occasionally instruct or assign work to support personnel.
Prepare samples for evaluation by cutting, grinding, and polishing material using laboratory equipment.
Conduct chemical, metallurgical, and physical tests of process or production material using precision laboratory equipment.
Approve material that meets established criteria and report exceptions.
Maintain complete and accurate test records.
Adjust technical processes based on test results.
Assist with solving manufacturability problems involving physical, metallurgical, or chemical matters.
Perform light maintenance on laboratory equipment, including changing band saw and cut-off saw blades and refilling coolant tanks.
Maintain laboratory supplies available in the work area and through Shop Supply.
Maintain safety and housekeeping standards and continuously improve standardized work.
Input raw information into the results database and provide analysis.
Provide written reports of analysis.
Interact with various manufacturing database systems.
