Requirements
  • A master's degree in Biology or a master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in any combination of the qualifying fields: Animal Sciences, Biochemistry with an emphasis on cell physiology, Biology, Biostatistics, Biotechnology, Cell Science, Cytology, Epidemiology, Food Microbiology, Immunology, Medical Entomology, Medicine, Metabolism, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Prokaryotic Biology, Veterinary Medicine, or Virology.
  • A professional degree such as MSN, MD, DO, DVM, or another advanced clinical degree awarded by a nationally accredited institution may fulfill the degree requirement.
  • A criminal background check will be conducted.
  • Ability to deliver interactive service, develop and maintain collaborative relationships, communicate effectively, and use computer applications proficiently, including the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule at multiple sites.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff in a diverse, multicultural, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
  • Design courses, deliver instruction, evaluate student learning, and incorporate college-required technology.
  • Maintain subject matter expertise and engage in ongoing professional development.
  • Maintain effective communication within the College and the department or program.
  • Plan, organize, and teach microbiology coursework to optimize student access, retention, and success.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop, evaluate, revise, and enhance curriculum and ensure mastery of material.
  • Support the mission of the Sciences for Health Programs Department and Santa Fe College through teaching, curriculum enhancement, service, professional development, and scholarship.
  • Collaborate with the department chair, faculty, staff, and college officials to implement college policies, objectives, functions, and strategic initiatives.
  • Provide students with frequent, timely assessment and clear feedback regarding academic performance.
  • Document student progress and maintain accurate attendance, grading, and student-learning-outcome records.
  • Protect student confidentiality and privacy in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and college rules.
  • Proctor examinations and participate in departmental meetings.
  • Maintain office hours proportionate to the instructional assignment.
  • Provide courteous, informed, accessible, and professional service engagement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
