Requirements
  • Have a high school diploma, GED, or technical school certification.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Have mechanical aptitude.
  • Be knowledgeable about automotive and truck systems, tools, and technical resources, and independently perform a variety of basic repairs and maintenance on automobiles and trucks.
  • Understand and consistently demonstrate proper use of equipment and tools used in repair and maintenance, and maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Consistently provide exceptional customer service and improve customer service scores.
  • Technician C applicants must have at least 6 months of relevant automotive repair experience or completion of a formal automotive training program.
  • Technician B applicants must have 3 years or more of experience repairing vehicles at a dealership or automotive center.
  • Technician A applicants must have 5 years or more of experience repairing vehicles at a dealership or automotive center.
  • Own tools appropriate for the applicable skill level.
  • Be able to work in heat where facilities do not have air conditioning and remain on their feet in a concrete facility for the entire shift.
  • Be able to stand, walk, reach, grab, lift, and carry automotive parts and equipment weighing up to approximately 80 pounds.
  • Undergo a background and drug screen if offered employment.
Responsibilities
  • Drive vehicles into service bays, prepare them for service, and complete digital vehicle inspections.
  • Perform general automotive maintenance and repairs.
  • Test-drive vehicles and prepare them for delivery to customers after required repairs and maintenance are complete.
  • Keep the shop clean and organized.
  • Perform automotive repairs, adjustments, and maintenance procedures as outlined on repair orders.
  • Complete fluid exchanges, alignments, brake services, basic repairs, and maintenance services.
  • Perform advanced repair and maintenance services at the Technician B level.
  • Complete electrical repairs, diagnostic repairs, and drivability diagnostics at the Technician A level.
  • Work with, mentor, and train less-experienced technicians at the Technician B and Technician A levels.
Desired Qualifications
  • General Service Technician applicants preferably hold a G1 Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair credential.
  • A state inspection certificate is preferred where applicable.
  • An AC 609 certification is preferred.
  • Technician C applicants preferably hold ASE A4 Suspension and Steering and A5 Brakes certifications, or equivalent certifications.
  • Technician B applicants preferably hold two additional ASE certifications, or equivalent certifications.
  • Technician A applicants preferably hold ASE A1-A8 certifications with Master Technician designation, or an equivalent combination of technician and ASE certifications.
  • Technician A applicants preferably hold ASE L1 Advanced Engine Performance Specialist certification.
