Requirements
  • A minimum high school education or equivalent is required.
  • Certification through HSPA (formerly IAHCSMM) with the Certified Registered Central Service Technician credential or through CBSPD with the Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician credential is required.
  • At least one year of sterile processing experience is required.
  • Level 4 requires certification in sterile processing.
  • The employee must be able to work an as-needed schedule with holiday rotation.
Responsibilities
  • Perform decontamination.
  • Prepare instruments.
  • Identify and initiate the appropriate sterilization method.
  • Manage supplies and equipment.
  • Distribute processed instruments and supplies.
  • Provide and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff by complying with hospital- and unit-specific policies.
