Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent and four or more years of total inspection experience, or college or university-level training in an appropriate field substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
  • A valid Florida driver's license is required at the time of hire.
  • The applicant must pass pre-employment substance screening.
Responsibilities
  • Review all lot drainage plans submitted to Land Development as part of the building permit process for compliance with the Unified Development Code.
  • Provide on-site inspections of private, public, and county-owned property and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, statutes, and County ordinances.
  • Provide backup support for Land Development Inspectors in their inspection activities.
  • Support the review of site development permit plans and right-of-way use permits.
Desired Qualifications
  • Florida Department of Environmental Protection Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Inspector Certification, or the ability to obtain it within 12 months of hire.
  • Experience reading and interpreting subdivision, drainage, and construction plans and specifications.
  • Knowledge of stormwater hydrology and hydraulics, drainage construction methods, surveying, pavement design, and erosion control practices.
  • Experience conducting field inspections and working with the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in drainage and stormwater infrastructure projects.
  • Strong communication and computer skills, including Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn County systems such as Accela, GIS, and Workday.
