Seed Health, a microbiome science company that sells pre- and probiotics, has appointed Anisha Raghavan as its first chief marketing officer. Raghavan will focus on growing the company's retail presence, product mix and brand awareness. Founded in 2016, Seed Health has raised around $40 million from investors including Founders Fund and celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Cameron Diaz. The company has grown revenue by over 500% in the past three years and now sells through Target and Amazon alongside its direct-to-consumer channel. Raghavan, whose experience includes running multibillion-dollar brands at PepsiCo and Unilever, plans to scale through unexpected partnerships, interactive advertising and quality influencer collaborations. All creators working with Seed must pass a gut health science test through its Seed University programme.
Seed Health and The Two Frontiers Project have launched The Resilient Soils Project, a community science initiative investigating how microbes adapt to chemically impacted environments. The project explores whether microbial life is developing natural responses to "forever chemicals" like PFAS that could inform new remediation approaches. The initiative invites individuals to collect soil samples from contamination sites for metagenomic sequencing. Results will contribute to 2FP's Living Database, an open-access archive providing researchers with DNA sequencing data from chemically impacted environments. Under sustained chemical pressure, soil microbes can evolve metabolic pathways capable of transforming or breaking down contaminants. Previous Seed and 2FP collaborations have generated over 1,000 environmental data points, uncovering microbial communities with potential applications in carbon capture and coral reef resilience.
