About the company

Furo Energy builds software that controls and optimizes commercial and industrial battery storage. It forecasts power prices and weather up to 48 hours ahead, optimizes charging and discharging in real time, and monetizes unused capacity through energy trading. Unlike many peers, it sells through a partner network of installers, developers, manufacturers and utilities and supports multi-site, fleet-scale forecasting and optimization across Europe. Its goal is to expand across Europe, grow the team, and increase adoption of its platform to reduce electricity costs and improve asset utilization.

What believers are saying

  • September 2026 funding from TQ Ventures gives Furo runway to expand Europe-wide.
  • Reported traction of 800 companies and 6,000 sites validates demand one year after founding.
  • Rebranding from Lumera to Furo and Deutsche Bahn adoption strengthen enterprise credibility in Germany.

What critics are saying

  • enspired, Entrix, and Statkraft already dominate European battery trading with gigawatt-scale fleets.
  • Furo’s Deutsche Bahn win signals concentration risk; losing one channel partner hurts deployments fast.
  • If Germany’s storage economics compress by 2027, Furo’s pricing edge and funding narrative weaken.

What makes Furo unique

  • Furo optimizes industrial batteries in real time, not just offline sizing, across 6,000 sites.
  • Its channel-first model sells through installers, OEMs, and utilities, embedding deeply into procurement.
  • Founders Lena Voß, Leonie Wagner, and Simon Wittner leverage CDTM and Munich energy talent.

German battery software startup Furo raises $4M after founders' strategic move from Silicon Valley

Furo, a German startup developing software for industrial battery storage systems, has raised $4 million in funding led by US-based TQ Ventures, with participation from Neo and Sandberg Bernthal Venture Partners. The company's three 28-year-old founders left Silicon Valley to return to Germany, believing the move has accelerated their growth. Co-founder Lena Sophia Voß said being close to customers and their network in Germany proved crucial for early-stage success. The startup has already secured enterprise clients including Deutsche Bahn, just one year after founding. Despite being a Delaware C Corp with mostly US investors, Furo operates from Munich. The founders cite advantages including lower engineering salaries, access to talent through technical universities, and proximity to Europe's energy market, where electricity cost reduction is particularly pressing.
