  • Deep understanding of prime brokerage, securities lending, collateralized lending, margin, financing spreads, balance sheet usage, client behavior, and secured product economics.
  • Strong knowledge of equity-linked products, including how equity markets, derivatives, hedging activity, client flows, and financing dynamics affect balances, valuation, pricing, and profit-and-loss.
  • Ability to translate trader needs and ambiguous business questions into practical quantitative tools, decision frameworks, and implementation plans that improve desk outcomes.
  • Strong Python or similar programming experience, with the ability to work efficiently with large datasets and controlled production environments.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to engage credibly with traders and explain quantitative insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience operating in a governed model environment, including documentation, validation support, monitoring, and controlled change management.
Responsibilities
  • Develop desk-facing quantitative analytics for securities lending, margin lending, and prime brokerage, with a focus on inventory, release decisions, pricing, demand signals, utilization, risk, and profit-and-loss drivers.
  • Partner with traders and desk stakeholders to understand pain points, pressure-test assumptions, and convert complex business questions into actionable quantitative solutions.
  • Analyze how client activity, market conditions, collateral dynamics, financing spreads, utilization, and product mechanics flow through balances, revenues, valuation, and profit-and-loss outcomes.
  • Enhance securities lending release-engine analytics by connecting inventory availability, borrow demand, margin balances, collateral, pricing, client activity, and desk-level profit-and-loss into clear decision frameworks.
  • Design analytics that strengthen securities inventory management, including availability, utilization, demand signals, collateral dynamics, concentration risk, and balance sheet optimization.
  • Partner closely with Treasury, Finance, Model Risk Management, product teams, and desk stakeholders to ensure models reflect real product behavior, market structure, and business economics.
  • Produce clear technical documentation, white papers, model methodology notes, monitoring materials, and stakeholder-ready explanations of model results.
  • Support model governance activities, including validation, limitation assessment, performance monitoring, change management, and ongoing model maintenance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve analytical accuracy, automation, controls, and business adoption across securities lending and related products.
  • Bring forward and pilot innovative quantitative, artificial intelligence and machine learning, automation, or statistical approaches that can improve trading decisions, inventory deployment, pricing, risk measurement, or profit-and-loss explainability.
  • Serve as a senior securities lending thought partner who shapes analytical direction through domain depth, desk intuition, credibility with stakeholders, and strong execution.
Desired Qualifications
  • A graduate degree, such as a Master of Science or Doctor of Philosophy, in a quantitative discipline.
  • Direct experience on or closely supporting a securities lending desk, prime brokerage desk, equity finance desk, margin lending function, or related desk-facing business.
  • Strong understanding of securities lending and borrowing, rebate rates, fees, utilization, specials, collateral, financing spreads, short demand, and desk-level profit-and-loss drivers.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify desk pain points and build practical analytics for inventory management, release-engine decisions, client demand, pricing, valuation, utilization, margin balances, or profit-and-loss explainability.
  • Experience with broker-dealer Treasury, balance sheet management, funding, liquidity, capital, or transfer pricing concepts.
  • Familiarity with model risk management expectations, including validation, performance monitoring, limitation documentation, and production governance.
  • Experience building analytics that support securities lending release-engine decisions, including inventory availability, borrow demand, collateral usage, margin balance behavior, rate and fee dynamics, and production decision routines.
  • Hands-on experience operationalizing product analytics for securities lending businesses, including controlled production runs, exception management, transparent outputs, and monitoring of key release-engine drivers.
  • A vision for where advanced analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning, automation, or alternative quantitative methods can create measurable trading, financing, client, or balance sheet value while remaining explainable and governable.

Schwab launches AI assistant Charley as stock drops 9% but analysts see 21% upside to $125

Charles Schwab has launched Charley, a generative AI assistant that allows clients to ask questions in plain language, handle account tasks, and connect to human support. The announcement comes as Schwab's share price has declined 9.15% over the past month, though one-year total shareholder return stands at 7.47%. The recent pullback has pushed the stock below its implied intrinsic value and analyst targets. According to Simply Wall St analysis, Schwab appears 21% undervalued at a current price of $98.37 against a fair value estimate of $124.95. The valuation gap depends on whether the firm can successfully scale higher-margin lending and managed advice whilst using AI to control expenses. Key risks include heavy technology spending and fee pressure from low-cost competitors, which could squeeze profitability.

Schwab announces AI integration, falls short of Robinhood's agentic trading.

Schwab announces AI integration, falls short of Robinhood's agentic trading. September 30, 2026 @ 1:54 pm By JD Alois Charles Schwab (NYSE:SCHW) has announced the incorporation of artificial intelligence into its brokerage platform. According to a statement Schwab distributed, the investment platform has launched "Charley," an AI assistant to support customers. Beginning in October, the service will roll out to eligible users in the US, where clients can ask Charley investment questions. The services initially include: * Help with everyday tasks: Find information and next steps on transfers and payments, trading and account actions, account opening and maintenance, and general troubleshooting. * Access market information: Get quotes and market information, manage watchlists and alerts, and access Schwab's research tools. * Find account and service information: Ask about balances, recent transactions, positions, statements, tax documents, and account maintenance. * Complete select actions: Add or update watchlists, enroll eligible securities in dividend reinvestment, add beneficiaries, update contact information, add or update a trusted contact when eligible, and set or manage alerts through the Schwab Mobile App. * Connect with a Schwab representative: Reach customer service for additional assistance. The service is described as part of a focus on enhancing its client experience with AI. While a nice addition, the announcement came a day after competitor Robinhood announced agentic trading, where users can create scenarios for an agent to trade on their behalf. This goes far beyond what Schwab is offering. Once a disruptive innovator, Schwab is now trailing the competition, slow to launch new services like crypto access or AI integration. While Schwab is almost twice as large as Robinhood, its structure is clearly less agile and slower to adapt. Schwab holds a dramatic lead in assets and funded accounts, but Robinhood is growing faster, albeit with smaller accounts. Robinhood is appealing to a younger demographic with its modern offerings and its ability to innovate while Schwab appears to be resting on past accomplishments and incremental change. OneVest launches Schwab digital account opening API with workspace, headless, and AI integration options

OneVest has launched integration with Schwab's Digital Account Opening API, offering three deployment options for financial firms. Advisors can use automated workflows within OneVest's workspace, enterprise tech teams can embed the API directly into existing CRMs and portfolio systems without OneVest's interface, or AI engineering teams can connect through OneVest's MCP Server. The integration supports individual, joint, trust, custodial, and retirement accounts, eliminating manual data entry into Schwab Advisor Center. OneVest's agentic platform can pre-fill account information, identify missing data, and automate signature routing. "Every custodian integration in this industry gets built once and locked inside one piece of software," said Amar Ahluwalia, OneVest CEO. "We built ours to be an on-ramp, not a walled garden." The solution is available now to OneVest clients, with enterprise implementations available upon request.
