Requirements
  • Candidates must hold and maintain current Registered Behavior Technician certification issued by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board, or be willing to complete a 40-hour training course and sit for the RBT competency exam within 45 days of employment.
  • If extended an offer, candidates must be willing to participate in the company’s background check process.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Candidates must have reliable transportation and, in some cases, proof of a driver’s license and valid car insurance.
  • Candidates must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Candidates must be willing to obtain CPR and First Aid certification, as well as a tuberculosis test if they have not had one in the past year.
  • Candidates must be physically able to get down on the floor and stand up repeatedly, lift up to 50 pounds, and run or move quickly when required for client interaction and safety.
  • Candidates must be reliable and able to attend each scheduled therapy appointment.
  • Candidates must maintain professional presentation and conduct.
  • Candidates must have patience to help keep clients on task and maintain emotional control when a client acts out physically or verbally.
  • Candidates must demonstrate strong attention to detail and perform repetitive tasks precisely.
  • Candidates must be able to follow and carry out detailed instructions.
  • Candidates must be able to use technology to record data on a mobile device and navigate digital applications.
  • Candidates must have good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Candidates must demonstrate cultural competency and remain flexible and open-minded.
Responsibilities
  • Provide direct client care in one-to-one and group settings using intensive teaching and natural environment training.
  • Follow behavioral skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols outlined in each client’s individualized treatment plan, as developed by a BCBA or BC.
  • Collect, record, and summarize data on observable client behavior.
  • Assist with parent and caregiver training in accordance with each client’s individualized treatment and behavior reduction protocols.
  • Complete documentation on time and according to established procedures.
  • Communicate client progress to parents and caregivers as instructed by a BCBA or BC.
  • Use safe and appropriate procedures when working with clients and report critical incidents and safety concerns appropriately.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment.
  • Assist a BCBA or BC with preparing client materials, behavior reduction assessments, and skill acquisition.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience as a behavioral technician, or experience working with children with autism or other learning disabilities, as a teacher’s aide, tutor, CNA, caregiver, or home health aide.
