Requirements

  • Satisfactory completion of a Wound Care Education Program is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required.
  • A valid State of Florida Registered Nurse license is required.
  • Applicable department-specific certifications may be required.
  • Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
  • Skill in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  • Assess assigned patients, evaluate care plans, document nursing care, and report symptoms and changes in patients' conditions and vital signs.
  • Modify patient treatment plans based on patients' responses, conditions, and physician orders.
  • Review, evaluate, and report diagnostic tests to assess patients' conditions.
  • Consult with physicians and other healthcare professionals to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
  • Prepare patients for and assist with examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Consider patient age and culture during treatments and provide information about treatment plans.
  • Provide psychological support to nurture a compassionate environment.
  • Perform appropriate patient tests and safely administer medications within the scope of practice.
  • Maintain accurate records of medications and treatments in accordance with regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and physician orders.
  • Communicate the plan of care to patients, families, and appropriate team members in a timely manner while ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
  • Use available resources to assist with discharge planning.
  • Plan, prioritize, and adjust assignments to accomplish goals and provide patient care, seeking assistance when needed.
  • Safely operate medical equipment.
  • Serve as a preceptor and assist new staff in providing care and acclimating to the healthcare environment and direct patient care.
  • Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
