Requirements
  • Four years of experience as an instrumentation technician.
  • Technical knowledge of the operation of alternating-current and direct-current drives.
  • A thorough understanding of speed feedback device theory and operation.
  • An understanding of temperature control and temperature components.
  • A good understanding of proportional-integral-derivative control and control loops.
  • A good understanding of Ethernet communications and connections.
  • Proficiency in programmable logic controller and human-machine interface systems, including communications drivers and connections, programmable logic controller program navigation, and controlled manipulation.
  • A thorough understanding of electrical components and electronic devices.
  • The ability to diagnose defective components, motors, drives, and electronic components.
  • The ability to use diagnostic equipment.
Responsibilities
  • Perform troubleshooting, calibration, installation, testing, and commissioning of instrumentation and automation systems.
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation functionality and input/output operation.
  • Repair instrumentation using a variety of meters and tools for calibration.
  • Set up new instrumentation and calibrate specifications using schematics and drawings.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of test apparatus and peripheral equipment.
  • Assist with installation and maintenance projects for automating large industrial processes.
  • Use computerized equipment and software to perform testing functions and produce reports.
  • Work with engineers to test and commission programmable logic controller systems.
  • Travel to customer sites to provide services as required.
  • Identify parts and components for programmable logic controller, network, computer, and software components.
  • Program programmable logic controllers and human-machine interfaces.
  • Test the functionality of program logic and installed equipment.
  • Troubleshoot software and systems issues during start-up.
  • Develop and assemble required documentation and user manuals created during the development process.
