Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience independently owning and driving scalable, impactful projects end to end.
  • Based in the SF Bay Area (or willing to relocate) and excited about working closely in-person with a tight-knit team.
  • Innately curious and brave enough to consider new payment paradigms or verticals for applications, can navigate low information environments.
  • Execution oriented, excited by the high-ownership nature of joining a team at this stage.
  • Interested in building a top class engineering culture from the ground up.
  • Appreciates and looks for elegant solutions but understands trade-offs of robust designs/engineering vs. moving fast.
  • Experience building fast, reliable cloud applications.
Responsibilities
  • Scale our core ledger that tracks both digital and physical money movement.
  • Scale our card network integrations that power in-store payments.
  • Build and maintain complex reconciliation infrastructure to make sure we never lose a cent across our partner bank, payment processors, merchants, and card networks.
  • Build and scale our financial reporting & accounting integrations that allow our merchants to close their books seamlessly.
  • Design and maintain our payment APIs and SDKs that make for frictionless integration.
  • Design and build features that prime us for enterprise-readiness, including SSO and RBAC.
  • Design and ship products that help merchants drive end-user adoption and engagement, creating a flywheel of user spend (i.e. our incentives engine and analytics).
  • Scale up our cloud infrastructure as we move towards fully containerized, blue-green deployment.
  • Own end-to-end design, implementation, and release of features.
  • Design and implement engineering processes.
  • Prototype new ideas and iterate towards the ideal user experience.
  • Contribute to our engineering infrastructure.
  • Help grow our engineering team
Desired Qualifications
  • Operated at a growth stage startup before.
  • Familiarity with Golang web frameworks, AWS, Postgres.
  • Experience in building one of these areas: core ledgers, money movement platforms/services, and merchant facing APIs for in-app/online POS.
  • Bonus points if you have experience in mentoring other team members, and have previously worked closely with designers.

Ansa.dev provides a closed-loop payments platform that lets merchants create and manage customer balances via an API. Merchants fund wallets for customers, enabling frequent small transactions (tips, microtransactions, order-ahead) while lowering payment processing costs. The platform tracks revenue, usage, savings, and liabilities and surfaces insights on spending and loyalty to drive repeat business. Revenue comes from subscriptions and transaction fees; the goal is to reduce costs, increase wallet-fueled transactions, and boost customer retention and profitability.

Simplify Jobs

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Reverb Wallet remains live in 2026, proving merchant deployment after acquisition.
  • Ansa’s SDKs cover iOS, Android, Flutter, and React Native, shortening integrations.
  • Rain’s January 2026 $250 million Series C funded Ansa’s expansion into broader merchant rails.

What critics are saying

  • Rain’s acquisition ends Ansa as a standalone company, eliminating independent upside by 2027.
  • Closed-loop wallets face interchange-heavy incumbents, while Reverb and Compass can switch vendors.
  • Loyalty balances create regulatory, chargeback, and consumer-funds liabilities that can implode margins.

What makes Ansa unique

  • Rain integrated Ansa’s stored-value wallets into Visa and Mastercard rails in August 2026.
  • Ansa’s closed-loop balances target Starbucks-style loyalty, not generic checkout, per Rain’s announcement.
  • Reverb and Compass Coffee validate Ansa across marketplaces and retail.

Rain acquires merchant wallet startup Ansa to enhance stablecoin payment offerings.

Rain acquires merchant wallet startup Ansa to enhance stablecoin payment offerings. August 11, 2026 Crypto Briefing general Positive Rain, the stablecoin payments infrastructure company, has acquired merchant wallet startup Ansa in a strategic move designed to accelerate stablecoin adoption at the point of sale and deepen its digital payment offerings for businesses. The acquisition integrates Ansa's merchant wallet technology directly into Rain's existing stablecoin payment rails, creating a more seamless end-to-end solution for merchants looking to accept and manage digital dollar payments without relying on traditional banking intermediaries. This deal arrives at a pivotal moment for stablecoin payments, with transaction volume on major stablecoin networks surpassing $27 trillion in 2024 and regulatory clarity from legislation like the GENIUS Act potentially unlocking broader commercial adoption across U.S. and global markets. For crypto investors and fintech watchers tracking stablecoin infrastructure, merchant crypto payments, and digital wallet adoption, Rain's move signals growing consolidation in the payments layer of the blockchain economy as companies race to capture enterprise and retail merchant market share. The combined platform positions Rain to compete directly with traditional payment processors and emerging crypto-native rivals by offering merchants a unified wallet and settlement infrastructure built on stablecoin technology. As stablecoins like USDC and USDT continue gaining traction as preferred settlement instruments for cross-border commerce, Rain's expanded capabilities could attract significant merchant onboarding volume. Watch for Rain to announce new merchant partnerships, expanded stablecoin support, and potential fundraising rounds following the Ansa integration. Rain's acquisition of Ansa could revolutionize merchant payments by integrating stablecoin infrastructure, expanding digital wallet adoption.
