Entergy celebrates 25 years of local sustainability impact through Environmental Initiatives Fund.

Entergy celebrates 25 years of local sustainability impact through Environmental Initiatives Fund. Oct 13, 2026, 12:17 ET Company marks occasion with anniversary webpage highlighting projects over the years NEW ORLEANS, Oct. 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ - Entergy is commemorating the 25th anniversary of its Environmental Initiatives Fund, marking a milestone in a long history of environmental commitment that began well before sustainability became a corporate trend. For a quarter century, Entergy's EIF has exemplified the company's early and ongoing leadership in environmental stewardship. Established in 2001 as a shareholder-funded grant program, the EIF represents a proactive approach to protecting natural resources, reducing emissions, restoring habitats and strengthening community resilience across Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. Over its 25-year history, Entergy shareholders have invested nearly $45 million in community-based environmental improvements across the region. "Reaching 25 years of the Environmental Initiatives Fund is more than marking time; it's a reaffirmation of a commitment our shareholders embraced long before sustainability was in the spotlight," said John Weiss, vice president of sustainability and environmental policy. "The EIF has allowed us to support meaningful projects that improve local ecosystems, strengthen communities and advance environmental progress throughout our service area." In 2025 alone, the EIF provided $1 million in shareholder-funded support to 11 partner organizations working in areas such as wetland restoration, tree planting, biodiversity education and green infrastructure development. These efforts complement Entergy's broader environmental initiatives, including long-term climate commitments, coastal restoration partnerships and decades of community-focused conservation work. This anniversary highlights a broader legacy in climate action for Entergy. In 2001 - the same year the EIF launched - Entergy became the first U.S. utility to voluntarily limit its carbon emissions, signaling a level of environmental responsibility uncommon at the time. Two decades later, Entergy operates one of the cleanest large-scale power generation fleets in the United States and is a nationally recognized leader in sustainability, reinforcing the company's long-term commitment to climate action, environmental reporting and performance across key sustainability indicators. Anniversary webpage highlights progress, partnerships To mark the 25-year milestone, Entergy has introduced a commemorative webpage featuring: * A video message from Entergy sustainability leadership * An interactive map showcasing highlighted projects across the service area * Profiles of partner organizations across the service region About Entergy Entergy (NYSE: ETR) generates, transmits and distributes electricity to power life for more than 3 million customers through our operating companies in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. Entergy honored with Chartwell's Award for Excellence in Customer Value and Strategic Growth. Pictured from left to right are I.S. Dunklin, Chartwell, Inc. CEO; Elizabeth Adams, Entergy chief customer officer; and Tracie Boutte, Chartwell, Inc. executive advisor. Chartwell, a specialized research and information provider focused exclusively on utilities, has recognized Entergy with its 2026 Award for Excellence in Customer Value and Strategic Growth. The award highlights its industry-leading approach to attracting new business and expansions while delivering measurable long-term benefits for the communities Entergy Corporation serve. It underscores its customer-driven business strategy, its commitment to affordability and the role Entergy Corporation play in strengthening local economies. Chartwell selected Entergy based on the transformative results of its multi-year data-center growth strategy, which ensures protections for its existing customers and creates fairness for everyone. "We're incredibly proud to be recognized by Chartwell with this award," said Elizabeth Adams, Entergy's chief customer officer. "We have led the industry in our approach to data-center growth and, as a result, have forged new partnerships across the Gulf South. This award reflects the meaningful impact these partnerships have on our communities - growing the local tax base, supporting essential services, creating new opportunities for residents and families and strengthening our local economies. Our largest customers continue to show up as committed corporate citizens and neighbors, bringing jobs, investment and a shared focus on improving quality of life. When we grow alongside our customers, our communities grow too." Over the last two and a half years, Entergy has secured partnerships with industry leaders including Amazon Web Services, Meta, Google, Hut 8 and AVAIO Digital. These projects are bringing billions in capital investment, thousands of construction and permanent jobs, and major new tax dollars to local communities. At the same time, they unlock more than $7 billion in savings for its existing customers. Under its Fair Share Plus pledge, these large customers pay their full cost of service and create additional value, helping keep electric rates as low as possible while contributing to improvements that strengthen the electric grid. This recognition also reflects its commitment to building a stronger future for the communities Entergy Corporation serve. Major infrastructure investments are supporting new solar and battery resources, modernizing substations and transmission lines and enabling forward-looking tools like real-time grid monitoring and demand-response integrations. When large data centers move to Entergy's service area, all customers connected to the grid benefit. Each new large customer helps cover more of the grid maintenance and improvement costs - relieving existing customers of having to bear those expenses alone, and at a larger share than residential and small business customers. Beyond the electric system, partners like Google and Meta are investing heavily in local businesses, infrastructure improvements and energy-efficiency programs - including Meta's $260 million commitment to bill-assistance and efficiency initiatives that help reduce energy burdens for vulnerable households. Hyperscalers like AWS, Google and Meta are also partnering with local education and workforce programs to build talent pipelines for data-center operations and skilled trades. AWS has committed to opening a first-of-its-kind training center to help prepare Mississippians for high-demand tech jobs, while Google announced an Entergy Impact Fund that will provide no-cost access to Google AI courses and Career Certificates for Arkansas residents, starting with students at two universities. Meta is launching its Workforce Academy, a fast-track training program designed to equip residents for long-term careers in skilled trades. Together, these initiatives not only provide in-demand technical and trade credentials but also strengthen long-term workforce development that supports regional economic growth. Chartwell's award affirms that Entergy's long-term strategy is visionary and transformative - attracting high-value customers, lowering energy costs for millions of households across the region and supporting economic growth that creates a more prosperous future for all of its customers. Copper wire theft causes power outage for 2,000 residents in Cleveland, police chief says.

Copper wire theft causes power outage for 2,000 residents in Cleveland, police chief says. Monday, October 5, 2026 3:00PM CLEVELAND, Texas (KTRK) - Copper wire thieves broke into a power station in Cleveland, on Friday morning and caused an outage that impacted about 2,000 customers, according to Cleveland Police Chief Darrel Broussard. Broussard said the power was out for about an hour after the vandals illegally entered the station and cut the locks off of multiple devices. "Several boxes had a lot of copper wire stolen from them," Broussard said. The chief said Entergy, which provides electricity to the area, estimated there was around $100,000 in wire stolen from the facility. Broussard didn't mention that any medical emergencies were caused by the outage, but ABC13 spoke with a small-business owner who said it did cause an inconvenience. "The cash register and credit-card machine were off," Daniel Kiblinger of Dan's Guitar and Music said. "We had to spend some time resetting that." Kiblinger said the power was restored by the time he got to work, but he was frustrated that he had to spend time dealing with the aftermath. "It's so irritating," he said. "As little as it impacted me, I'm trying to run a business here. Customers are everywhere, and I had to take a half hour away from them to boot it up again." Broussard warned that stealing copper wire from a power facility carries serious risks for criminals. "What they're getting (financially) is very little compared to the dangers they're putting themselves in," Broussard said. Broussard believes there are multiple suspects at large, but he didn't provide ABC13 an exact number. No one is in custody at this time, according to police.
